Travel to Glasto From Glasgow

Hey

I'm going to glasto for the first time this year with some friends. We live near Glasgow and I just wondered how people were thinking of travelling down/how did people travel last year?

Was thinking about the plane being the easiest option but the buggage allowance would mean no booze and we've got like a tee-pee and a big tent to take for all of us.

Did anyone drive/get the train would you advise?Or mini-bus was it cheap?

I know you can like a festival bus down on the Tuesday night from Glasgow and travel down all night as well!

Thanks for any help!

A minibus could be an idea although I'm not sure my friends would want to go down and camp a few days before it!! ha ha

i'd quite like to get everything booked around new year time so i can start saving for the festie and buying the usual camping blurg to take... train it could be then

2007 - Drove down overnight on the Tuesday, got there at 6am and it ruined our Wednesday as we were so tired.

2008 - Drove down the Tuesday morning, arrived at Glasto town around 3pm and we camped overnight with other eFesters and had a meet/piss up in the pub. Then went to the site 1st thing Wednesday morning nice and fresh.

2009 - Drove down the Saturday, went to Avebury for Summer Solstice with 17 other eFesters and camped nearby for a couple days. Then went to Glasto town on the Monday and camped again till the festival and had 2 meets/piss ups in the pub. Then went to the site 1st thing Wednesday morning not quite as fresh

we're coming from Glasgow, getting the megabus down to London and staying there the Tuesday night , then getting a coach from London to the fest early doors on Wednesday.

Considered flying but with the bagage charges it would have been too dear for us atm

Rainbow bus sounds interesting though, does anyone have any more info?

Got picked up at 10am on the Monday morning, back in Glasgow for 7pm with a couple of stops on the way up!

The guy that runs it said the website is going to be gone by glasto 2010 because of something to do with the hosting, but he said just to use the email to book a place

i think we'll probably get the bus. we looked at train prices and they were f**king ridiculous. i'm not even going to consider flying as an option because of luggage weight and prices, and i just don't want to fly cause i've never flew anywhere without my parents and i need someone responsible with me!

Has no-one else used the rainbow bus?

Went for my first time this year and had seen it advertised online. Leaves glasgow uni at midnight on Tuesday and you get there for gates opening on wednesday. Think it was about £60 return!
