i have a small works van, smaller than a transit van, like a car with with 2 seats and the back a large storage space. will i be hearded in with all the transit vans into a seperate field and why are you not allowed to sleep in the back of it? if its a mudbath i would much prefer to sleep here.

I have been to the festival 3 times and slept in the car in two of those festivals, no one ever came to tell me to leave the car, I have also slept in the car at V festival and same, didnt get bothered.

imo its up to you, I bet a Van will be a lot comfier than a car and it will be hard for them to spot you, there are always people coming/leaving the site as they are going to their cars to pick stuff up. so its not like you will get someone spying on you making sure you dont sleep in the van.

I will be taking a tent this year though  reason why I started going to the car was cuz my first night ever at Glasto was so crap in a tent, sooo cold in the night and sooo hot in the morning, but last time I went I took a lot of bedding and 4 pillows, lol, was so much better than the car.

Sleep in a van??? I prefer the sound of people tripping over my tent pegs and guidlines all night, the sound of pee trickling down the outside of my tent, the manic conversation in the tent next door at four in the morning and that wonderful guitarist that only knows one tune but decides to treat us all to it!! Wouldn't be a festival without all that though would it.......

  • 1 month later...

Bloke beside me in the campervan field in '05 had a transit that he had "customised" for the festival...he put some mdf around the inside of it, his actual bed from home (and attached the headboard to the mdf) and then bolted a portable sink in aswell...I think every steward at the gates came for a look and a laugh...but he was allowed to take in in!

I've had a decent campervan for the last few years, but for many years before that I slept in the back of a normal panel transit. It was feasable back then before about 2003ish but now its too dodgy. Contrary to someones comments above theres not loads of people going too and forth the carparks in the early hours ie 2-3am at night so you'll stick out like a sore thumb. If you know anything about how tight Stuart Security are then you'll bin this idea asap.

So your options are......

1) Buy a cheap campervan, this time of year you'd get a half decent one for £1500-£2000. Then sell it straight after.

2) Diy modify your works van and hope for the best when you go through the inspection entrance.

3) Attemp to get in to the CV fields with your unmodified works van, get turned away and have nowhere to sleep for 5 days.

4) Buy a tent and earplugs, and if the weather gets really rough then the car park security have been known to be versatile to people sleeping in cars/vans etc. DO NOT expect to get away with this if its just wet and muddy though, the festival will need to look like a third world disaster zone.

By the way the V festivals carparks and their security are nowhere near as guarded or as vast as Glastos are. And good luck, I've been where you are and I know its frustrating.

    • TOP 10 acts (top 5 in bold😞   Blood Orange (ciutat)   Guitarricadelafuente   Oklou - Looks like I'm capable of enjoying music in the rain after all, just not the whole night.   Rilo Kiley   The Cure   Jade   Depresión Sonora   Gelli Haha (Parc del Forum) - Her music never really clicked with me. Until I saw her live.   MARINA   Six Sex (ciutat) - I was shocked how supersmall the venue was and that almost everyone (except for me) knew every word of every song (including the ones that were released this weekend!).   Honorable mention:   Ashnikko - missed the first 15 minutes (because of Gelli Haha) and I'm not really a fan of her music, but the show was an absolute blast.
    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
