what's it like going on your own?

I'm 17 and I really can't imagine going on my own, even though unless a mate or two get tickets in a resale its going to happen. Would have got more but most of my friends are still under the impression that Glasto's for old farts and Reading's the real party (don't get me wrong, I loved Reading. But I want somewhere with a nicer atmosphere, where people want to do more than get pissed in a campsite)

Probably will join some sort of forum camp I guess.

First time i went to glasto ('03) i went on my own because my mates all backed out at the last min.... bastards!

Still, looking back i'm glad that my first glasto experience was a solo experience. Don't get me wrong it would have been a hoot if my mates were there but i think it wouldnt have been as laid back and chilled out if they were... It was just nice to go at my own pace and not having to wait around for others and piss around trying to find people.

I just made my own merry way around in my own time taking in the sights and sounds at my personal leisure. It was a bit lonely in a way but you soon get talking to other people and get stuck in

It was like being a little lost kid in a massive wonderland

To this day it was still the best year (for me)

So this is it, my first Glasto experience and Im going to be going solo.

Not a bother for me but would be great to camp near a bunch of like minded people who at various points have a bit of brain juice.

I will come with my own special survival tools of rubber arm bands and a piece of string. After watching re-runs of the A Team I'm sure I can make something out of it.

Me and my twin sister have exactly the same taste in music, so we know exactly what we want to go and see at Glasto, and at what pace we want to wonder round at.

We have a friend who, if she went to Glasto, would want to take a chair everywhere, sit at the back away from the crowds, get tired from all the walking and insist on resting, and be back in the tent for half 11.

Even though we're really good friends, she would be a burdon in the festival situation. That's just not our idea of fun and going to Glasto.

It's so much easier with just the two of us! We can do exactly what we want, when we want and at what pace we want.

There appears to be a (or something) where a bunch of people from this site all camp together... i'm assuming anyone can tag along here and therefore you wouldnt be camping alone ... if i'm correct thats probably what i'll be doing if none of my mates get tickets in the resale... you could join too?

You won't regret going on your own. I went on my own last year and camped with the efest crowd, best Glastonbury I've ever done. Had the most amazing time, and met lots of awesome people. The camp is great as you can go off and do your own thing if you want but when you come back there are always people hanging about to talk to.

Even if you don't join the camp you can stop by and hang out or go to one of the various meets that happen over the weekend.

Wanna do summat by yourself - no pressure. Wanna party all night. Someone to do it with. A better bunch of people you wont meet anywhere

As another Camp Triangulite I want to back up what fellow campers have said. For everybody that is worried about going alone/considering not going/etc. - don't panic!!

Although Glastonbury is enormous and can be intimidating initially, it's also gotta be one of the friendliest festivals in the world, and you all already have access to a huge camp of friendly, lovely, fun, like-minded people by virtue of being on here.

At you will be surrounded by people of all ages, some of whom have been attending the festival for years and years, some of whom are experiencing their first ever festival, but all of whom are there for the same reason - to have an amazing five days! It's nigh impossible not to make lots of very good friends as a result of camping with eFesters!

In short, I understand the nerves, but you being the only person you know with a golden ticket may just be one of the best things that's ever happened to you!

Im well n true goin solo so far, but I know that come the day of leaving I will have had a hoot and met a group of like minded Glasto Jedi's to have shown me the light.

Im just 1 of 1000's Glasto Virgins and wonder why Ive not gone before.....

When ever i've gone with mates it's always been a bit too crazy and i usually end up getting so f**ked out of my head it kinda ruins things a bit.

Its a massive laugh and its certainly great being there with friends but its just so much more chilled out and nicer when by yourself.

My experience this year was that Glasto is the friendliest place on the planet and that's the main reason I loved it so much. I would have no hesitation about going on my own - or no - as you just talk to everyone you see/meet and it's cool. Everyone we camped near was great, chatty, helpful - in the first hour of arriving we even got offers of help with the tent, cans of beer, sharing a joint, etc. It was a brilliant experience. Restored my faith in humanity if I'm honest.

Made some good friends too and stayed in touch. Some of them are there next year, some aren't, but I'm sure we'll make more!

Don't wuss out, you WILL regret it.

Oh, and any solo ravers from the Sheffield area - we may have a seat in a car if you want a lift.

this is my first glastonbury and although i'm going with my sister i know full well that we'll end up spending most of the weekend on our own doing different things. and to be honest i'm really looking forward to going off on my own, getting lost and thinking lets go this way and see what i can find and i'm sure plenty of people will be doing exactly the same thing.

Also i'm glad everyone else seems as excited about something that aint happening for aboout 9 months as i am. i cant bloody wait
