We (we're twins) met a guy on the coach down last year (with what turned out to be a 14 hour journey, it was nice to talk to someone else. I think he appreciated the fact that we'd been before and kinda knew what to expect, has he hadn't been before, and his mate was on a different coach, and ended up camping in another spot because we got there so late.

This guy (Neil) was very grateful that we knew where we were going, and camped next door to us, because it was easier than trying to find his mate in the dark and with all his stuff.

He went off on his own during the day, and at night, we sat and talked about what we'd been doing. We went around together on the Sunday, and had a really great time. We also gave him a guided tour of the place.

We've kept in touch through Facebook and are meeting up again next year!

Just echoing what people have said before, last year I camped with friends but spent most of the days and evenings just mooching about on my own and doing what I wanted to do...not that it felt like I was actually on my own. Everyone was lovely and I met a lot of great people.

My friends havent got tickets yet this year, if they get them in the resale it'll be great, but if not I'll certainly be going it alone!

I heard that there were 30,000 tickets at the resale last year, but it didn't sell out for months, this year loads more people know how the deposit system works so I think lots of people bought them on the off chance they could make it.

First time i went to glasto ('03) i went on my own because my mates all backed out at the last min.... bastards!

Still, looking back i'm glad that my first glasto experience was a solo experience. Don't get me wrong it would have been a hoot if my mates were there but i think it wouldnt have been as laid back and chilled out if they were... It was just nice to go at my own pace and not having to wait around for others and piss around trying to find people.

I just made my own merry way around in my own time taking in the sights and sounds at my personal leisure. It was a bit lonely in a way but you soon get talking to other people and get stuck in :)

It was like being a little lost kid in a massive wonderland

To this day it was still the best year (for me)

This will be my first Glasto and it looks like I'll be going on my own too...

Okay, the prospect is a bit daunting but I'm sure it will be alright as being alone will force me to socialize more than I would if I were with my mates and I hope to meet other 'solo ravers'

Not too sure about camping alone though :)

Its good in a diffferent way - you will see lots more - no having to fit into others plans - but also you will end up chatting and partying with people who you would not have otherwise met. Sometimes its annoying that you have no one to share a special moment with - Have done it 4 times I think.

You will be fine.

As other people have posted on here, being with other people can make you feel a little obliged to them. On your own, your agenda is your own.

Personally, when everyone does get it together enough to register and get tickets and go as a group, I always make it clear that I will be doing my own Glasto thing, and expect everyone else to be doing theirs as well. If there is something on I want to see and you want to see it too, brilliant, we'll meet up, but don't expect me to babysit you at 4 Poofs and a Piano or whatever, when I could be watching something else. It always makes me laugh when I hear people arguing about what to go and see. Go and see what you want. Mind you, this is easier to say when you are single.

This sounds more selfish than I am, but there is only one Glastonbury a year.

It's my first festival ever and I'm going alone...tbh I can't bloody wait! :)

My mates were on about going as well, but didn't take it seriously and thought of it like a concert where you can get tickets off ebay  lol. They think I'm mad for going alone, but I think it's gonna be FANTASTIC! I'll talk to anyone so with a bit of effort shouldn't be properly alone that much

Hopefully gonna camp with other efest people in this , so should see a lot of you there! :)

Without trying to sound like a sad git I prefer festivals on my own - as others have said you can chose what to go and see without having to feel you have to stay with mates, as as I'm getting old its sometime quite nice just to go back to the tent and sleep one nite rather than having to party 24/7 because your mates are.

The downside does tend to be the camping - finding your tent in the dark without mates to remind you which camp site you are in can be difficult, and if you should be unlucky enough to have something stolen or your tent leaks it can be a bit lonely/scarey - but as others have said a lot of great people go to the festival and more than make up for the odd trouble maker you encounter.

I know going with mates can be a great experience but its always puzzled me a bit the amount of people who seem to sit in groups in the campsites drinking and chatting when they are at a festival and not seeing many bands or sites of the festival - still each to their own I suppose.

i wouldn't like going on my own tbh, I was a bit worried when my housemate wasnt up at 9am and i'd already got my ticket - i totally agree doing your own thing, which is what I will do, but I'd feel a bit lonely when wandering around / in the mornings at the camp and the evenings at camp,

prob just me, a bit of a worrier

i also know id never find my tent lol, got lost in 07 :|
