Weather thread 2010

Wow hasn't the weather changed. The last couple of days have been emotional - but with Jackone, (who plays it safe), giving glasto a 2 out for 5 - with 1 being the driest - I'm feeling pretty excited.

I like how country file even predicted weather around 30 degrees - which made me think of LW's prophetic comment on the very first page of this weather thread back in October 2009. Will it happen...

Scorcher please. I want a scorcher. And when I say scorcher, I mean a SCORCHER.

I want to be able to light a cigarette by simply running my nails along the dried up grass (I don't smoke - this is just an example of how SCORCHING I want it to be). I want to see the headliners' guitars melt. I want to see the poor quality lagers literally evaporate. I want to see the trendy Kate Moss wannabe's wellies melt, firmly affixing aforementioned TV-camera fodder to the dry and cracked earth.

35 degree at least please.

And remember folks - rain is NOT AN OPTION.

You know what Langdale - nobody likes a mudbath, but I have been keen to see the weather forecasts turn around for your sake and many others. Thats a great forecast and I am chuffed to chuffering chufftness.

And to appease the gods as I mentioned the horror of good weather - I have packed ponchos and wellies tonight. Lets make sure I packed them for no need!

Latest GFS (18z) has some showers on Sat evening & Sun afternoon but not amounting to much. Also some small showers on Thursday afternoon, apart from that completely dry.

It's predicting 23C Wednesday, 24C Thursday, 24C Friday, 25C Saturday and 22C Sunday. Really nice temps :)

This is looking good to me....not seen a dry festival since my first in 2003 (and even that had a little rain). But Thunder during Faithless would (in a way) be kinda cool.

{Note to weather Gods: Thunder during Faithless, and only that. For a short period. With very hot temps. Otherwise the deal is off and I take my son back!] B)

Right, been away since Friday celebrating becoming engaged, had my aforementioned Mum's birthday BBQ yesterday, it rained all day, so I've kept my part of the bargain.

So, we going to be scorchio then?

All shaping up very nicely. As long as CNN don't change their forecast in the next couple of days I'll know we're safe.

To make extra safe I'll be scotch guarding my rain coat on Tuesday night...

The Met Office is alright for me;

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Mainly dry with predominantly sunny conditions continuing and becoming increasingly warm by Thursday, especially further east. Light winds throughout, mainly from the southwest.

Updated: 1514 on Sun 20 Jun 2010

UK Outlook for Friday 25 Jun 2010 to Sunday 4 Jul 2010:

Remaining mainly dry and fairly settled towards the south and east of the UK at first with some sunshine. More in the way of cloud and some showery rain towards the north and west, with this extending further south and east at times. Mist or low cloud may affect western and northern coasts. Temperatures mostly warm or very warm, possibly becoming hot inland in southern England over the first weekend, with the chance of thundery showers developing here, but cooling off slightly thereafter.

The latest GFS run 00z has zero rain, although a few showers just miss the site, temperatures of about 23 degrees, I always knew GFS would get it right eventually. ECM already say similar, and has been for a couple of days, the latest ECM is out in an hours or so which "should" confirm the above.

    • Hi all, first timer at trees this year volunteering with Oxfam. Any tips or suggestions of must-sees other than the main stages on my time off? I keep seeing chats about the silent disco?    Also any smaller bands recommendations? Sprints / Arcane Roots / High-Vis style. Cheers all 🤝
    • Tell me more. Last Latitude we went to was '21 - my son was young & had a wagon so we snuck good beers in that way. I remember there being some Brooklyn IPA on sale which was tolerable - are you saying they don't sell anything other than Carlsberg now?! 😳
