Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Dry throughout the period, with variable cloud and some lengthy sunny spells, the best of these around the coasts. Becoming warm inland, with mainly southwesterly winds.

UK Outlook for Friday 25 Jun 2010 to Sunday 4 Jul 2010:

Remaining mainly dry and fairly settled towards the south and east of the UK at first with some sunshine. More in the way of cloud and some showery rain towards the north and west, with this extending further south and east at times. Mist or low cloud may affect western and northern coasts. Temperatures mostly warm or very warm, possibly becoming hot inland in southern England over the first weekend, with the chance of thundery showers developing here, but cooling off slightly thereafter. Into the start of July, it looks to remain largely dry in the south, with more in the way of rain or showers for the north and northwest. Possibly becoming very warm again in the south. Winds mainly light, but fresh at times in the northwest.

Doubt you will get searched, BUT - you can't bring your own 'outdoor/flare' type candles with you, only the ones you buy on site. No idea why, but if they find in your bags when you arrive (if you get searched, i always seem to) they will just remove them. But worth noting, that you might want to keep them hidden on the way in

The 2005 deluge was not forecast and is not something that can ever be really forecast. Thunderstorms were predicted but nobody could have imagined the scale. Luckily it seems thunderstorms are not a huge concern this weekend, although possible.

Super-cell thunderstorms like the one that hit in 2005 are not commonplace in Britain. I experienced one since that festival and I live in the South East where they are much more common.

Worth bearing in mind that it was like two storms back then. At about 7am that morning and after a couple of hours of thunder and rain I went for a walk down to the Pyramid in trainers. The ground was damp but there was no sign of any mud. So a heavy shower does not equate to a muddy festival.

On that occassion though the second storm pushed the already swollen streams around the site to burst their banks and that's what caused all the problems.

Edit: To the above. Thunderstorms were definately forecast but they are always hit and miss. On the Thursday evening I was at the bar by the John Peel tent looking south at the developing clouds over the English Channel and hoping they would miss us like they had on the Thursday in 2003.

I've been every year it has been on since 2004 and it has always rained at some point. 2007 was particularly bad because it rained pretty much constantly over the five days. However, even if it just rains once or twice, unless it is a really light shower that many people traipsing through wet grass soon turns it into a mud fest. I can't imagine we'll have five days with no rain at all (sorry to sound pessimistic!), so definitely don't forget the wellies! If it is going to be sunny it will soon dry out again - then you can go back to sandals in a day or two - as long as no more rain follows! Whatever the weather it doesn't look like it is going to be anything like 2007 - so that's fine with me!

I really complete what's happening with these forecasts. All our hard work over the last few weeks is starting to pay dividends. We're so close now, so very close, we can do it! COME ON!!!!!!!!! NRNC.
