On the 10-day forecast it has changed from rain to sun on the Thursday since lunchtime! Tomorrow it will probably change back to rain again. I don't think we should bother taking it too seriously until at least Saturday. The BBC forecast always seems to be the most accurate anyway but it is only a 5-day one so may need to wait until nearer the time. Whatever, I'm going prepared for all eventualities!

None of the various models are matching up at that point which means only one thing. They have no idea due to the uncertainty in the short term over the weekend. I think they should all settle down by Thursday though, so it's getting tense.

I'm sticking with my mainly dry, bit chilly at night with the odd light shower forecast. In short, jumpers but no wellies.

Still in progress.

Further offerings to the weather Gods. Tonight I have spent a good hour cleaning and re-proofing my hiking boots, gaiters and poncho so if it does rain then I'll be ready. (Of course we all know it won't and that I'm just paying respect to Thor and his other mates).

Seriously geeky fans of synoptics and detailed techhnical weather stuff should, while over on netweather, also visit (as observers!) the general Model Output Discussion thread on the same forum as JACKONE's thread. I've had a post deleted there today as a half justified slap on the wrist for going off topic.

Various chat today on that thread is, shall we say, highly 'inconclusive' ... some posters favour a 'High' scenario (or more High influenced one anyway) for the South and West into later next week, others, equally persuasively, argue that the UK overall will be all more 'Low' or maybe more Northerly/North Easterly, which latter would be chilly, but not especially wet .... it's all about which model output you think is most likely.

The various outputs seem to be switching all over the place at the moment ...

Who knows?

Where's Steve Murr to add his say when you most need him?

    • Well he is on a rape charge, don't see that one as controversial.    Although Hakimi is in Morocco squad.
    • Electric Callboy just said they'll be touring here next year. I'm not sure there's a poster for it though. I'll look when I'm near some next.      He said we'll see you at Download at a gig before any of the band. Presumably he was trolling. They're in Austria at the moment and Germany tomorrow with a week's break and more shows in Germany. Whilst not impossible to come back here and then go over there again, it seems unlikely.
    • Thomas Partey, knocked back by Canadian immigration now.
    • I'm sure someone can update you on the clashfinder, and it will be pretty accurate by the time the festival comes around. It's a large flat-ish arena with main stage in the open air, no best side I'd say. Leadmill (3rd stage medium tent) is at the back of the main arena, T'Other (2nd stage big tent) 5 min walk round the corner. At full capacity walking around can take a bit more time though. I noticed that The Enemy are scheduled to not fully overlap with Wolf Alice, so you could catch part of their set too.   You can walk around anywhere with a beer, with most bars the usual mass market stuff, but one nice craft ale tent, back of the arena near the Leadmill stage. A main meal will set you back £10-15, but cheaper snacks also available. Expect a pint to be £7-8. Possibly a bit more this year as prices everywhere are increasing.   It's fairly easy to get to from the town centre using the tram, although can be busy at peak times / very busy at curfew. If you like a walk, it's approx 40 mins to Kelham Island (lots of indy venues) and probably an hour to the city, or catch an Uber. There will be loads of 'fringe' music events on around the city right through the weekend. Most are free. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy the festival, and your stay in our city!
    • I think people on a place like this, that clearly value live music more than most, don't. I'd rather an academy than an arena every day. But I could see a few people that care about "the gram" than the actual music wanting an arena experience even if it's a mid sized band.
