Robbie Williams making a comeback

I think 98 was a one off. Unless of course he really enjoyed himself and asks Eavis for a spot. Meh!

Unfortunately I think Robbie "biggest douche in the universe" Williams will see it as a great opportunity to re-launch his career with a fairly high profile slot, and unfortunately its the kind of stupid idea Eavis might have.

I couldn't think of anything worse, and if by any chance this complete tosser does end up a stage somewhere then i for one will be armed with urns of piss.

There are loads of stages at Glastonbury. There are loads of people who like Robbie Williams. If he played he'd get a big crowd and those who don't like him could go and watch somebody else. I think he's an insufferable fool, but i wouldn't be stupid enough to stick around watching someone i didn't like.

Incidentally, i was waiting for the Raconteurs to come on stage in 2008 and caught a chunk of James Blunt's set. I was truly shocked by the amazing reaction he got - people were loving it and actually crying and screaming with joy.

What gives anyone the right to decide what's good for other people? If we all liked the same thing we could do away with The Park, Avalon, Dance Village et al and all set up our camping chairs at the Pyramid for three consecutive days. No f**king thanks.

Oh no. Please no.

Not so much Williams himself. I'm not bothered if he does play or not, but I don't think I can handle a repeat of the Bruce threads of last year, and Jay-Z threads of the year before that.

How's about this...

it PROBABLY WONT happen so dont waste your time getting all your knickers in a twist and throwing around insults just because some of you have a problem with the guy. He did play Glasto once (and when he did it was one of the highlights of 98!), he may do again but does it warrant the crap that some people come out with about throwing bottles of piss and so on!? :)

Just like Jay Z, Robbie Williams is a multi million record selling artist, ok a bit of fruit loop these days and certainly not as big a performer as in previous years (due to being off the radar) but what right do any of you have to say that such a man cannot and should not perform? Yes its nice to banter constructively on the forum but please for everyone else's sake, dont bring about another repeat of 08. AND as we all know, Glasto is very good at having a very varied line up...pop god performing at 6pm on Saturday afternoon?...yup seems like a good bet, especially with the more family friendly and V Festival(ish) demographic that is attending these days.

Remember the Jay Z year and how f**king boring it got with everyone having their ha'pence worth about why a hip hop legend should have the ordacity to headline Glasto...? Well...that show turned out to be bloody dandy and was actually one of the best performances ever at the festival...but what do I know eh? :D

WHY does the possibility of a pop/hip-hop/cheese legend performing at Glastonbury Festival raise such hate and anger and ridiculously childish and selfish reactions? Everything that is already being talked about in this thread is a carbon bloomin copy of the Jay Z whingings...why so scared?

Knock this one on the head now and save the rest of us from yet another year of inane drivvly whinging.

PLEASE!

How delightfully snobby.

Does he really represent all that is evil about music? I didn't realise music could be evil... He writes/cowrites songs, sings live, has opinions and is popular with millions of people. My God what a complete and utter moron.

Snobby and a moron, I'm doing well here. I get insulted for stating an opinion in what I thought was quite a tongue in cheek way, which then gets interpreted literally, and I'm the moron?

Popularity with millions does not equal talent. If it's snobby not to like Robbie Williams then guilty as charged.

What on earth is wrong with posting an opinion about Robbie Williams in a thread asking for opinions on Robbie Williams?

He has songs written for him and plays no instruments. He does dance quite nicely. I think he sucks.

    • RIP Roy Hattersley
    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
