Can I just point out that it's LIBIDO not "labido"... sorry, was annoying me.

Does anyone want to talk about the Beatles? Anyone?

Nah Langers, not too bothered about the Beatles, per se.

The desire for others is a bitch if you ask me.

You could always cut your balls off, fella...? :D

No?

Yeah, Lennon had some really good points about love in his lyrics. We're currently discussing them now if you hadn't noticed. It's perhaps quite surprising to find that someone who cannot stand their music thinks quite highly of the band's musings and perhaps even philosophies. But there you go. It takes all sorts.

lyrics and meanings are very low down on my tick sheet of liking a band.

melody always comes first. only if its really shite lyrics that i have a strong opinion. such as rammstein's new single.

Good point, well made.

That wouldn't overcome love would it? I'd still have a desire to converse with people and engage them. That'll be giving and taking. That'll be negotiating values. That'll be love in motion.

No but it'd overcome the desire which you were bemoaning. Then you could simply love people and not have to worry about your impulse to bend them into curious shapes while sweatily thrusting inside them...

The latter isn't a problem for me as overcoming sexual desire doesn't have to involve others. It's a very selfish thing.

I have a good discussion point - best solo album by a Beatle?

All Things Must Pass.

Favourite Beatles line?

Mine is 'Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.'

or

'Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it just to reach you, Julia'.

What about:

"I'm taking the time for a number of things, that weren't important... yesterday..."

?

A few of the best Beatles lines are contained within this song:

When I wake up early in the morning,

Lift my head, I'm still yawning

When I'm in the middle of a dream

Stay in bed, float up stream

Please don't wake me, no

don't shake me

Leave me where I am

I'm only sleeping

Everybody seems to think I'm lazy

I don't mind, I think they're crazy

Running everywhere at such a speed

Till they find, there's no need

Please don't spoil my day

I'm miles away

And after all

I'm only sleeping

Keeping an eye on the world going by my window

Taking my time

Lying there and staring at the ceiling

Waiting for a sleepy feeling

Please don't spoil my day

I'm miles away

And after all

I'm only sleeping

Keeping an eye on the world going by my window

Taking my time

When I wake up early in the morning,

Lift my head, I'm still yawning

When I'm in the middle of a dream

Stay in bed, float up stream

Please don't wake me, no

don't shake me

Leave me where I am

I'm only sleeping

"I told you 'bout Strawberry Fields, you know the place where nothing is real..."

I'll think of more tomorrow.

That's quite interesting. I was told in a psychology lecture at college many moons ago that Lennon penned the majority of his lyrics first thing in the morning. Apparently, it's the time that we're most susceptible to inspiration for a variety of reasons. I find that this is the time that I write most of my novel too. I wonder if his sleep metaphor in the song derives from his waking slumber. Sounds a little less romantic than drug use.

Another great Lennon track - Gimmie Some Truth. Love it. It's great when Johnny Boy gets angry. Great guitar work from George on it too.

Favourite lyric is definitely 'life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans'.

But that's just a Lennon solo track. Beatles lyrics? Hmm... tricky. I'm going to go with the beautiful Blackbird. Magnificent. I love this song.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly

All your life

You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Black bird singing in the dead of night

Take these sunken eyes and learn to see

all your life

you were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly

Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly

All your life

You were only waiting for this moment to arise
