I really wanted to get the boxset but couldn't afford it, so instead I've decided rather than getting them all at once I'll just go through them slowly. I got three to begin with (Magical Mystery, Abbey Road and Past Masters) and I'll get a few more for Christmas, The White album for my Birthday (cos that was the first time I heard the album years ago) and revolver next summer cos I first got Revolver on holiday!

The sound quality is really good, the packaging is as good as I was expecting and of course the albums are brilliant.

STORY

Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds: woman who inspired Beatles song dies.

Lucy O'Donnell, the woman who inspired the classic Beatles song Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, has died aged 46.

The song featured on the ground-breaking 1967 album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

John Lennon's elder son Julian said it was inspired by a picture he drew of his classmate Lucy O'Donnell when they were at a nursery school in Weybridge, Surrey, in 1966.

Julian said he took the picture home and showed it to his father, explaining: ''It's Lucy in the sky with diamonds.''

When Lennon and Paul McCartney's song was subsequently released, it caused controversy because of its hallucinogenic theme and supposed reference to the drug LSD.

The former classmates resumed their friendship in recent months when Lennon heard that Lucy, who was married to Ross Vodden and lived in Surbiton, Surrey, had become ill with lupus, a disease of the immune system.

The St Thomas Lupus Trust, which had been supporting Mr and Mrs Vodden during her illness, said she died last Tuesday aged 46.

Angie Davidson, campaign director of the trust, said: ''Everyone at the Louise Coote Lupus Unit was dreadfully shocked by the death of Lucy. She was a great supporter of ours and a real fighter.

''It's so sad that she has finally lost the battle she fought so bravely for so long.''

The trust said that Lennon and his mother Cynthia were ''shocked and saddened'' by Mrs Vodden's death.

A book of condolence will be opened on the trust's website www.lupus.org.uk.

I've downloaded them. I already own the ones I've downloaded, and have bought them more than once - in many instances more than twice - over the years. I'll be buggered if I'm forking out another fifteen notes for Pepper, which I have on LP, tape and CD ffs.

after some spirited words with wooderson in the sir thumbsalot thread in the glastonbury forum, i decided to revisit some of his post-beatles work! the vast majority of it is still pish IMO but it did lead me to relisten to a lot of all of their post beatles work (barring the ringo stuff - im a geek, not a masochist) and to 're-discover' the best post beatles solo album 'all things must pass'

im loving that record all over again at the moment

Got my stereo box set today and ive listend to a few of the CDs and im loving it. It was VERY expensive and i would only ever pay that amount for the beatles (and could only afford it because i just got a full time job). But i do thinks its worth it as it looks and sounds great. Ive only had rubber soul to abbey road to im loving hearing their early stuff, and the magical mystery tour (going to have to watch it now!). Im going to save abbey road till last as its my favorite

"Here Today" is still the best post Beatles song by an ex-Beatle that wasnt called John.
