Will Leeds/Reading be prepared for rain?!

Lets be honest, it was a shambles last year at Leeds, not sure about Reading.

At Leeds Festival in 2002 at Temple Newsham, there was a downpour on one of the days. 10 mins later, there were blokes in trucks putting sawdust/bark on all the paths to stop it getting ridiculous.

Last year, it was forecast rain. What did they do? Nothing. Yeah, the mud is a bit of a giggle at first, but it gets tedious after a while as it takes 30 mins to get 50 metres. Why wasn't there bark/sawdust put on all the major paths before the start of the festival?! OK, so they haven't got the brains to forsee horrible muddy conditions, so why didn't they do something about the mud when they saw how bad it was? Like i say, its a bit of a giggle at first but after a while its gets on your nerves, and most of all, the sloped paths are pretty dangerous!

Please Leeds/Reading, use your head this year and either put bark down on all paths or have a metal path/grid running through the site.

Cheers.

It was beyond a joke last year at Leeds, I'd never let it ruin my fesival but it still makes it less enjoyable when your soaked through and your legs are killing you from trying to drag them through the mud.

I didn't let it ruin my enjoyment, but at one point do remember thinking, "c**ts, fleece everyone for £170 and they don't even prepare for the basic elements", and it's not like it was a shock thing, has been pissing it down for nearly all of the week beforehand.

One thing i will say, if the weather's gash, don't leave the arena till midnight. Understandably bottleneck situations are unavoidable, but throwing mud into the equation and you end up trapped like cattle for about half an hour.

Getting all your gear to the campsite was a nightmare last year at leeds, i thought i'd been clever filling a wheelie suitcase full of strongbow only to get to the site and finding wheeling impossible. Paid my mate a tenner to drag it through. Original poster is right it doesn't take much to prepare for this kind of situation and with the price of tickets they should definitely have had it sorted. Worst part for me was having to wear wellies to get to the arena then once your in its fine but your still stuck wearing wellies!

    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
