A death like that of the young girl reported today does make me wonder why a fourteen year old feels the need to get smashed beyond belief. I've at least dabbled in most things now but twenty years ago (34 now) I can say I had no interest in that (didn't much like beer then either).

You will slump into a despairing spiral of nihilism and despair, and not even the kind that can be softly eased by going to watch some melancholic music, the gut wrenching kind that'll leave you lost to the world as you quietly state into the synthetic walls of your tent wondering what's the ****ing point.

It certainly isn't a festival drug. To quote Super Hands, its really moreish-you'd spend a every half hour searching for a toilet to top up in. On the plus side, the taste is so foul that it'd probably block out the stench of shit from your nose.

The stuffs impact on your mental state for the next day or two afterwards is horrible, easily transcending the decent high. I wouldn't touch it at a festival, even when putting aside the more sensible medical reasons offered by people on this thread.

Yeah well. People wont listen and will learn the hard way as is the usual.

But hey. It'll give us lot something to laugh about when we get up in the morning all nice and sober and refreshed, eh?

It reminds me a bit of when ketamine exploded on the rave scene 10 years ago.

Everyone though it was some brilliant super drug because it was so cheap and 'legal' (before it got classified to class C in 2006) and therefore must be completely safe because of that reasoning and started caining the stuff.

I was always against it and tried telling people that it wasnt a good idea and tried to get my mates off the stuff, a few of which actually got REALLY addicted to it to an extent where it cost them their jobs, families, homes...

I know people who even need bladder reconstruction because the ketamine kept scarring the inside of their bladders and making it harden up over and over again until they couldnt piss properly.

And the problem was made worse by the doctor's ignorance to the drug. It's only recently that doctors are starting to get clued up on it and for alot of people it's too late as the permanant damage has already been done.

Sounds like f**king great fun tbh.

Either way, they learnt. With their lives.

How will YOU learn?

Five overdose on 'bubbles' drug

Tayside Police sign

Tayside Police said those caught with the drug could be arrested

Doctors in Dundee have issued a warning about the legal high drug 'bubbles' after five people suffered non-fatal overdoses last weekend in the city.

NHS Tayside said that while all those affected had recovered, two people had been admitted to Ninewells Hospital.

The drug, which has mephedrone as its main ingredient, is a psychoactive drug sold as an alternative to ecstasy.

Police said its dangers could be amplified when mixed with other substances, including alcohol.

Although not currently a controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, Tayside Police said anyone caught with mephedrone could still be arrested.

They also warned that home-made bubbles could vary in content leading to "more serious" charges for those caught with it.

Reported effects from the drug include increased heart rate, agitation, irritability, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, as well increased blood pressure.

People who develop such symptoms are urged to seek medical assistance immediately.

Mephedrone was linked to the death of an 18-year-old girl in Sweden in December last year.

The drug is now illegal in Israel, Norway, Finland and Sweden. Psychiatrists in the UK have lobbied for it to be banned here.

I meant to mean MDMA spin-offs like methylone.

I didnt mean mephedrone spin-offs.

And i mean because people turn into little fiends.

At least with illegal drugs people have some sense of wariness about them and tend to pace themselves better than with 'legal' drugs because they feel that just because they're legal they wont f**k them up.

To be honest I can see both points of view on the subject, Mephedrone is moreish etc but its just so cheap and GOOD that a lot (I heard radio 1 say the other week 1 in 3 people had tried) of people are getting into it because unlike coke for example it actually doesnt something to you, makes you feel f**king great and its you can get it for less than half the price.

I've literally NEVER had a come down off it, felt much better the next day as opposed to just a hangover and have been able to sleep on it everytime I've tried it.

There are risks like their are risks to all drugs obviously, but to be honest I just love how it feels and not a festival drug?! That is a very strange statement... It could have been almost designed for festivals.

I just hope it remains legal for as long as possible as I think its great (just dont take the piss with it and it wont take the piss out of you).
