And just realised I haven't actually posted who I'd like as headliners yet.

Friday - Blink 182/Green Day

Saturday - SOAD/Rammstein

Sunday - AC/DC/Aerosmith

Any of those combinations if we're sticking to this years alternative/current metal/classic rock

I almost put this in its own thread because i got so f*cking excited.

Rammstein article in MetalHammer.

Richard Z Kruspe (Guitarist for the band):

"We're planning about 200 shows, including festivals, and some of those will be in the UK!"

Now im not sure whether hes talking about the 200 shows or the festival appearances. But if its festivals Download is surely a prime contender!??!

I reckon after the success of this year there'll definately be a classic rock day again, can't see any of the above headlining such a day, but I do think they're reasonable shouts. 2 of them and Deep Purple or the like would make sense.

Just out of interest are Rammstein really considered headliner material? Last tour they were just playing academy shows (I believe) and they haven't done much since! I'm not disputing that it would be awesome and epic, but surely they wouldn't be too big for the second stage if (eg) Blink 182 headlined the main!

I can't help but feel people are overestimating the popularity of an act whose songs aren't even in English!

im pretty sure if soundgarden reform - and im pretty sure they will....theyl headline Download cos they wud kinda be in a similar boat as FNM were this year - Probably not quite big enough to headline Reading/Leeds but certainly big enough to headline Download...so a Headliner slot may be more appealing to them. Plus i think Chris Cornell enjoyd his time at Download this year!

2 big pieces of news ragarding a classic rock headliner rumour.

As the above poster says, AC/DC are rumoured (not so sure about confirmed) to be playing 2 shows in Turin and adding a UK show in June (could be download)

The second is that Bon Jovi has a 5 date residency of the O2 arena, (7th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 13th) with the Saturday of Download free.

If they (Bon Jovi) are doing a 5 day residency at the O2, Download seems unlikely. Why would they book a band who everyone who wants to could see at their own shows? The point of a headliner is pulling in people who don't have the oppertunity to see the band anywhere else!

Edit: I bet they're playing IOW on the Saturday.
