Really regret not seeing blur

I was a bit annoyed but moved on from the Prodigy to catch a big chuck of Gong's set which helped. The Prodigy really didn't do it for me. Which is odd, because I normally like a dance band on a Sunday evening.

Cos I didnt want to miss out on the Uber Bimble I went for the Prodge because the organisers of Uber Bimble had had a tendency to f**k off without me all weekend and it was getting to the point where I was getting quite upset by the attitude...still do tbh...but anyhoo...

wasnt around anyone who did a good job of convincing me otherwise and where we were stood for the Prodge, the fact that for the first time in living memory the Other Stage soundsystem was shocking and the show was just noise and light...yes I am living to regret choosing to not even be able 'see' Liam et al, let alone hear them! Was utterly pitiful! Saw the Prodge at their legendary 95 NME Stage set and hoped it would be like that...how wrong could I have been eh?

Compared to the Chems where we were stood further back and the bass was still ripping thru you in 07! That show was stunning! One of my fave ever Chems shows...and I have been to a LOT!

Yup gutted in all ways! Hearing Blur were beyond incredible was too much.

Blur were so amazing....much much better than those Northern monkeys who played in 2004

Without sounding like a big soppy git (even though thats an accurate description) Blur was the best headliner since Radiohead because they melted every single heart in that field. Their punky shouty tunes are great of course, but its the depths that they plunged to which took our breath away and captured the imagination of the 70K in attendance.

It was such a soothing, redemptive, romantic and hopeful gig, wasnt it?!?! Two old friends putting their squabbles behind them singing at the top of their lungs - gave me such a lift to witness it! It was such an emotional experience for everyone there. I think people forgot how many songs are in Blur's repertoire that sum up the melanchoic ennui of the times:

All sad little songs (well in some cases not so little!) that make you hug your loved one closer to you.

There was a couple beside me of a certain age (i'd say at least mid fifties) that spent the first 25 minutes sitting down singing along and the last hour entwinted together like ivy in floods of tears singing at the top of their lungs. It was such a cathartic experience!

Tender has been singled out as basically the performance of Glastonbury 2009 due to it's simple yet epic nature and how it was sung back to the band by the crowd. This spontaneous "moment" did not happen at Oxegen, T or Hyde Park because of the spark of hope that ignited in Michael's field.

It was an unforgettable moment for me and my missus. She sang "Out of Time" back to me later that night in the tent. I didnt whinge during Blur, but my darlin' singin that brought a tear to my eye. Unforgetable stuff. Britain should be so proud of them. They were remarkable.

Judging from the footage I've seen though, Blur looked immense. But theres more than half of their set where I would've been bored and thinking about how I wish I was at the Prodigy.

beg to differ on that point mate - i was down the front on the friday at hyde park and it was being sung almost before damon had a chance to stop. the boys were 'home' and the big smoke did em proud!!

not only that, but as we were all filtering out of there it was being sung from marble arch to hyde park corner into the tube station!!
