Female headliner?

Was thinking has there ever been a female headlinner of the Pyramid - either a solo artist or female group?I'm guessing not - so Kylie would've been the first one?

Who do people see as the first female Pyramid headliner - if there ever will be one? - I'd say currently it'd be a straight fight between Madonna & Winehouse as the only females who could potentially headline?(The Kylie ship has sailed...)

I was actually pondering the prospect of Madonna headlining yesterday.

saw a bit of madonnas latest tour on sky arts hd i think. would be a sad day if she headlined, looked awful!

none of the female acts/fronted bands i like would ever be big enough sadly.

i imagine the ratio of men to women in major headlineable bands or groups is massively weighted in the men's favour. I would like to see Pink or a reformed Corrs at Glasto one day, but in all honesty I don't think there's all that many who could headline, unless there was another year of "younger style" headliners where some hippity hop groups headlined. Not into Kylie but I would definately watch her, bet she's a great live act. Plus if she headlines it'll be dark enough to crack one off while I watch her.

Cause otherwise, Tori Amos and Medieval Baebes are two that spring to mind.

Forbes lists the top 4 earning musicians as:

1. Madaonna

2. Celine Dion

3. Beyonce Knowles

4. Bruce Springsteen

So, no reason not to have a female headline

If Beyonce does play she will headline or 2nd top at lte least. I'm no fan but it would be very entertaining and probably surprise more than just me. (Plus you'd defo get Mr Knowles)

Not female as such but as mentioned before Fleetwood Mac, they could literally just play Go Your Own Way and I'd be happy. 2 girls, 2 guys is pretty good.

Alternatively Bjork or Cher if she did the classics. I've always wanted to see Alanis Morrissette as well but she couldn't headline.

Not sure about headlining but would love to see Blondie or The Pretenders at Glasto. +1 for Kate Bush too. Shame to have to look so far back though. Ebony Bones could be one for the future - great in the Queens Head this year.

Was thinking about this just the other day and I get the feeling that female artists are particularly vulnerable to the expectations of x-factor celeb type stereotyping. Could we have another Janis Joplin now? I guess we probably could but I'm not holding my breath.
