Is it possible to have an amazing Glasto even if it rains all weekend?

my first was in 07 and i still had an amazing time.

i've been back every year since!

it depends far more on the people you are with. still not found the right person yet! you need to find people with stamina who don't want to go to bed at 1, or you feel like you're missing out on half the festival! going on my own next year to avoid dissapointment again!

2007 was my first year - had a great time up to a point, but by the Sunday it was a real effort just moving about. Didn't even have the energy to get drunk properly! If you has asked me if I'd ever go back when I was sat in the back of my mate's car for the 16 hour journey back to London with my feet in the puddle that had formed due to his leaking window, I doubt I'd have said yes. Luckily nostalgia kicked in, the bad bits started to disappear from my memory and have had an amazing time the last 2 years!

To be honest, i've been at the Festival when the weather has been very poor & it does dampen people's spirits. So, if we try hard then we'll enjoy it despite the rain but, it does make it hard work & less enjoyable (cause you can't just sit on the grass etc).

so yes its very possible. I guess part of it is down to your own personality and the company you share

2007 rained constantly and it was awesome.

you just need to get more wrecked to make the rain seem not so bad

2007 was my worst Glasto by a long way, yet I'd still say yes - it's perfectly possibly to have an amazing time even if it barely stops raining.

My slightly catastrophic year in '07 was partially, indirectly due to the weather, but just as much down to our terrible, terrible neighbours and the fact that I was there with entirely the wrong person (funny what realising you're not Glasto-compatable with someone does to your relationship ). Basically, everything that year that could go wrong, did.

However... when we got back to the outside world, my ex moaned, ran Glasto into the ground to anyone that would listen and vowed never to return. In contrast, I looked at why we'd had the problems, decided to finally start attending the eFest meets and vowed never to return with my ex.

Skip to this year - I have the best Glasto of my life, and my ex is so bitter about missing it that he'll barely speak to me. And I would have had an incredible time whatever the weather had been like.

If you really learn from each Glasto you'll figure out the best ways to prepare for every weather, every eventuality. Even though I had a shite time in '07 that experience will probably guarantee I never repeat anything that happened that year. This year it could have thrown it down from beginning to end and I still would have seen amazing bands, danced my ass off, hung out with fantastic people and generally had a ridiculously good time.

In short: wrong friends/partners = bad; eFestivals = good; weather = who gives a crap? It's Glasto!

If you go well equipped with decent waterproofs and footwear, a positive attitude, and large quantities of rum everything is just brilliant!

Key word being rum, hiding in the middle there! Can be substituted with other strong-uns, brandy being my fuel in the muddy 2007. Discovered whiskey helps me stay awake this year

I had the most amazing first time at Glastonbury this year, I was completely amazed at how amazing it was bu i did wonder if it was constant rain, could you even come close to having that sort of experience.

AND is it possible for us to have two glorious sunshine years in a row (minus the thursday and sunday night?!)

I think that rain adds more atmosphere to it..

2007 was by far my worst year too - it was the heaviest and most relentless rain I'd experienced at Glasto, but it was also the last year I went with my ex. And I was thoroughly miserable. The previous few years it had got progressively worse weather-wise, and looking back so had the relationship.

This year my head was in a completely different place. It was the first year I'd been since out of the relationship (was still in it last year, although I went on my own), and I had an absolutely great time. I know that even if it rains relentlessly, I am never going to go back to that other head-place, and if I'm with efesters, it will still be fantastic.

making a wet glasto fun is all in your mind-set. if your inner voice is constantly going 'i'm cold, this is sh1t, what am i doing?' you've had it. i chose to take delight in the fact that i COULD walk for miles through mud only falling occasionally and congratulating myself on being harder than i thought.

Wow - 2007 really was a bad year for relationships at Glasto! Maybe the adverse weather really highlights your differences...

Yes... Happened in 2007. Atmosphere was a bit more down but..... I still had a great time, you just miss some of the things you take for granted, i.e being able to sit down and watch a band (easily), not having the rain running down your face.

I've now been 3 times - 99, 07 & 09. 09 & 99 were by far the best (and driest) - and I was on my own in 99.

The mud just makes it so much effort to do anything. Me and my girlfriend ended up sat in the John Peel tent for most of the time, simply because you could sit there. It is what you make of it, but sun helps a hell of a lot.

My first year was 2007, and I immediately fell in love with the place rain or not. It has become such a central part of my life now, I would let the rain pt a dampener (ahem) on such a wonderful experience.

The only point at which I was slightly gutted about the rain was having to take the tent down on the Monday morning, after staying up all night as not to miss my bus. BUT apart from that it was utterly brilliant, and the sunset during the Arcade Fire on the Friday night made it all worth while

ive trekked through all the 'rainy' years from 1998 onwards and every single one was f****ng fantastic!
