i like madness,i enjoyed them, but i feel for the first half of the set, i dont think they really kept anyone's attention. i think they saved all the songs till last. but at one point i was going to go and leave. i dont know if its the new stuff or whatever or maybe its me?

what did you think?

I thought it was a great set. They certainly didn't start with the new stuff. Embarassment was the second song. The Prince was quite early too. I suspect it's that you're only familiar with their most popular tracks (HoF, Baggy Trousers etc.), which did indeed come in the second half. That said, I'd be amazed if you could point out many artists over the weekend that didn't do that.

As mentioned above, i can see why fans of the hits alone may have found it a tough first half, but with songs like Bed and Breakfast Man, The Prince, Sun and The Rain, Wings of a Dove, Embarrasment....fantastic set if you ask me!

Er...ok...

were you all at the same gig...???

it was bloody incredible! A well deserved Pyramid slot that where I was stood looking over a vast amount of the field...it looked as if pretty much bloomin everyone has a fookin incredible experience!

This year's Sunday afternoon antics are going to take a very long time to surpass folks!

If only the Quo had been put on before Tom instead of being on at 12pm...BUT...then again...I think we would have just been waaaaaay to drunk to face the evening ahead! :P

Tom f**kin Jones...as his last cover quite clearly stated...UNBELIEVABLE!!!

And then the Madness set that just totally went off!...AWESOME!

Never a huge madness fan, went along to meet a couple of friends (which failed), had a fan-figging-tastic time! Everyone was so happy, so up for it, I could only go with the flow. Huge grin throughout, lots of singing and a bit of skanking for good measure. Probably the nicest moment of the festival for me (at least right now, I'm sure I'll recall a good few more!)

Thought that it was an a great set, not quite as good as they were in LV a few years back but a top choice for the Pyramid.

As for the new songs I was impressed by them so will probably be buying my first Madness album in over 20 years next week.

The skanking at the back was even better then it was for the Specials, loved it. Everybody with smiles on their faces, great atmosphere and I saw a load of younger fans really enjoying it.

Only better performance of the weekend were the majestic Wonderstuff.

I thought Madness were class, its always going to be hard for band like them to do a set everyone is happy with as they have so many classic songs and they are mainly playing festivals as a way of promoting the new album so have to have a few of them in. Personally I think it was a good balance of old and new im just upset the set was not longer they were only on 1.10 mins with a 45-50 min wait to Nick Cave im sure they could of squeezed and extra 15-20 mins in. If anyone wants a chance to win a copy of the album boxset with loads of extra special stuff there is a comp on the official site now www.madness.co.uk

also if anyone wants to get behind the Madness for a Brit Award there is a facebook campaign group http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.ph...4564&ref=ts

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
