Okay fair enough Neil. That last gag made me laugh.

But I will say this for the founder of such a decent website youve made and are continuing to make yourself look like an total arse for making such immediate & effusive opinions known based on such a minute level of information. It's pretty pig ignorant and that surprises me somewhat.

what "minute level of information"??????

30+ years of hearing Bruce's music? Here's betting that's longer than your own utterly-superb-and-infallible-level of information.

My opinion is no less informed than your own. Just because it differs to your own doesn't make your opinion good and mine worthless.

Neil, you just admitted that the way you worded one of your opinions could have been better

anyway, I think those posts were silly...

that's my opinion

Well, if that's way you want it, then you can have it.:D

You have, after all, already falsely accused me of doing it anyway.

Your opinion of Bruce is a shit opinion, and you haven't the first clue as to what is decent music.

Happy now? :P

I thought you said it was bland - I wouldnt listen to music i thought was bland for 30+ years. I'd also have made up my mind about seeing him live a long time before that.

The thing is that in the 80s, you couldn't avoid Bruce Springsteen's music. On the TV, on the radio, played in shops, etc.

I don't think Neil listened to it by choice, but he got to hear it anyway. Just guessing.

So not only are you ignorant but also indecisive?

"Oh I know every song he's recorded for 30 years."

*300 seconds of Glastonbury slot later*

"This is sh'it - im off to Ed Byrne."

Neil youre more than welcome to your opinion nonetheless.

:D:P

It's not been a deliberate choice to have been listening to Bruce for 30 years. For example, you might be rude enough to tell your friends to change the record from something crap, but generally I don't do that.

So still no post where somebody says that your opinion is worth less than their own?

I think that fact that you're yet to find anything that says that speaks volumes.

Live with it/Get over it/etc.

I guess you're too stupid to see that's exactly what tony was doing in that post. Oh well.

so, are you taking this back now:

no, just wording it better so it's clear what I was meaning. I'd always thought you had a brain in there but it seems like I was mistaken. Or perhaps you're just continuing with your attempts to portray my thoughts as something they're not - you know, more of that lying you're keen on doing.

You might like me to not think Bruce terribly over-rated cos he's terrible, but I do and will continue to.

spot on.

(but it's been much more exposure than just being his time of hits).

The irony here is that i also thought Bruce was bland on the night. Difference is I have a frame of reference with other Bruce shows with which to be so confident in my opinion.

yeah, but the difference is that you don't think him bland overall - I do.

But anyway, had the likes of you been willing to post about his blandness on Saturday earlier, perhaps all of this could have been avoided? .... tho I think it's far more likely that you'd have got at least some of the flack that's come my way.

I wouldnt expect any more from a 5 year old than what Neil is coming out with in this thread. He's making himself look like a right prat with this ill-informed rubbish and semantics. Clinging to his wafer-thin take on someone as if his life depends on it and calling people morons aswell. Dreadful rubbish. Expect more from the lad as his taste in ska is spot on.

:D:P - another "my opinion is worth more than yours". Care to say why? :P:P

When people go elevating their opinions above others as you're doing here they prove themselves morons. Perhaps I'm unusual in being prepared to say it rather than just thinking it as others do?

I might be better friends with the people I spend time with than you Neil. More than comfortable enough over the last 20 years to have blazing rows with close beloved mates over music.

You and your mates would happily sit through a Westlife best of to not offend then? Whistling cheerily along to "Flying without wings" together?

I've had plenty of vigorous discussions with mates over the years about their music tastes thanks. But there's only so many times you can do it before you have to accept that they're going to play that thing you hate anyway.

I've never come close to even implying that.

Is this your debating technique, to just keep saying the same wrong thing over and over again until the other person gives up, and you can say, "see"... just because you had the last (wrong) word..

If I was on your level, I'd have called you a liar

You quoted my first statement - where I said that Bruce had converted me into being sure he was crap - as silly. So please tell me why it's silly? We can then wrap this up.

Here's betting you only think it silly because you consider such a negative opinion of Bruce to be silly - thus proving your non-acceptance of such negative opinions as worth less than your own.

Your own (mass?) debating technique? It's a bit w*nk to be frank. You've continually resorted to posting deliberately false statements claiming they're what I've said, and then get pissed off when I correctly call you a liar for it.

I think i was the first to say it on this thread actually. Ive no issue in calling it as I see it. Unlike Neil though I didnt try to shoehorn my straw poll / my smug and poorly informed notions on everyone else as gospel.

The straw poll was gospel. Live with it.

As for the rest, stop talking shit. At no point have I tried to force my opinion onto others, I've done nothing more than stated my opinion, justified it as my opinion, and stood behind that opinion in the face of the sort of laughable bullshit you're now posting.

Smug? That's you that it. Resorting to lies (your post right here) to try and denigrate an opinion you don't like. It's as pathetic as it gets.

Poorly informed? 30+ years Bruce experience is more than your own. Yet you think your supposedly well informed opinion has a better basis as an opinion. Yeah, no one is trying to say my opinion is worth less.:D:P

it's my opinion that I think it was silly... I thought that was 'allowed'?

and so you admit you think my opinion worth less than your own. Thank you. Case closed. :P

Yet I fully respect your own opinion of Bruce. I believe that you have a perfect right to it. Your opinion of Bruce is not silly despite it's total contrast to my own.

but while we're there, saying something is crap is stretching the definition of opinion

Oh, so similarly, your own opinion that he's fantastic is also stretching the definition of opinion. If he can't be crap then he also can't be fantastic.

So he's just middle of the road then. Funny, cos I seem to remember you saying that you don't think him middle of the road.:D

Relax yourself chief.

Im not alone on this thread taking umbrage at your 5 minutes of the gig plus flakey-as 100 man straw poll to prove to yourself that Bruce is bland. I can denigrate all I want on that basis. I won't rise to the bait as I couldnt give a fiddlers to be fair. Unlike the others I agree with you that it wasnt the best show. Like the others though I think the basis for you to arrive at this decision is codswallop.

:P

Ahhhhh .... so now those 100-ish people I asked who also thought Bruce not good also have flaky opinions. We're getting somewhere :P .... but nowhere good unfortunately. :P

They were their opinions. If their opinions are flaky, care to tell me why your own isn't?

If you care to read back, you'll notice that I didn't claim those opinions as typical at the proportions I experienced - in fact, I categorically stated that I didn't believe them to be. So where the f**k is the problem with that????

And then we're back again to the same thing .... if my opinion as arrived at is codswallop, then please tell me why yours isn't? :D

Who were these 100 people? When did you ask? I dont believe that you asked 100 random people who had seen Bruce play, and found that the majority all said he was bland.

Or did you just ask people who were near the back wearing "i hate springsteen" t-shirts and packing up their chairs to go back to their campsite after a "boring" song that Springsteen learnt and played especially for the glasto crowd on his way down to the festival.
