Does anyone have an idea which "special guest" we are talkin about? is it the later one on the Park, on the saturday?

Interesting point. Could they ever properly headline though?

If it was somehow Metallica, maybe it'd be Eavis' test run for heavier acts to play?

I think maybe people we need to cast our minds back to an interview Emily Eavis did at the start of the year when she said 2009 Was the 'year of the comeback'

Ok we have the specials, but nothing much in the way of big names otherwise

Perhaps it could be the libertines (although I am not fussed on this , its hardly electrifying)

Fleetwood Mac (was on as TBC ??, then suddenly dropped from Efestivals List - Did they pull out and were they the '4th headliner' )

(as far as I'm aware) Seeing as Eavis doesn't tend to book heavier acts for health and safety reasons (after Pearl Jam), booking the biggest heavy act in the entire world to play a secret set on a tiny stage doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

When I read about Kerrang I instantly thought of Faith No More, but very much doubt it looking at their schedule.

It's probably someone there because they planned on being there to watch Springsteen on the Saturday anyway. they may know him, respect him a lot, and might be brought up on stage to do an encore with Bruce...

so, when 'one of the biggest bands in the world' comes up, it could indeed be a strummed down set by U2 or Coldplay, who would love the publicity stunt that this is

Much-respected musician and producer Nick Laird-Clowes, who has been a long-term collaborator (and in some cases, co-writer) with David Gilmour. He's been talking recently on social networking sites about the music he has just completed for a Greenpeace documentary (directed by Nick Broomfield) about The Kingsnorth Six.

It includes a new song, 'Mayday' ("a meditation on street protest - circa '09") which Nick notes includes David Gilmour on backing vocals and guitar, and the "pounding" bass of Guy Pratt.

UPDATE, May 22nd: The song, which was recorded over the May bank holiday weekend, was the culmination of four weeks of Nick's work. The documentary will appear on the Greenpeace site from May 31st and launched in conjunction with The Observer/Guardian films in the Sunday newspaper of that day. The song itself will be available as a free download with details in the newspaper that day.

if kerrang is saying someone big, its not going to be anyone like the killers or anything because the dont cover indie/bands. it'll be someone like metallica etc. but i did hear they wanted to play glastonbury and they are well known for their turn up shows!
