Flaming Lips?

Not sure there is any space for them anymore but Flaming Lips are playing Electric Picnic in Ireland the Weekend after Reading.

If they were mainstage I would say they would probably be second or third so unless they are the special guests and are slotted in thier, which never happans, I can't see them there.

Potential NME headliner. Very doubtfull as people seem to think Offspring/Weezer will be there but I would say it is a position they could play.

Anyway, worht a mention I thought.

Kept predicting them for this year.

In reality they're a "second headline" sort of band. Could have easily had them instead of Bloc Party but sadly the days of the FR bookers using their imagination are numbered.

Agree. It would have been way better if it was Flaming Lips supporting Radiohead on Sunday. But I guess FL are not you average indie teen band!

I wouldn't say they're "creeping into the mainstream" as they've been around years, much longer than Interpol and Arcade Fire anyway, but I see what you mean.

If they were going to play, it would've been on Radiohead day. In the sunset slot would've been an inspired piece of booking. Can probably expect some festival warm up dates I reckon.

Would've been another band to add to the 'can't sing live' thread too.

having been going to reading and leeds since 2000 the line up at this early stage is likely to change a fair bit. i'm not sure that they will play under radiohead, i definitely wouldn't hold my breath, but with 4 months to go it could happen.

there are about 11 bands still to be announce for the main stage.
