I think Kaiser's will go below Arctic's, with The Kooks in third. A la Saturday is our indie day, and Friday will be the more alternative type heavyish day we had with RATM last year. More of it comes down to who they just end up booking, but I can see Lostprophets being 2nd to KoL.

As for heavy bands on the R1 stage, every year I expect someone heavyish to be chosen to play against The Killers or Franz Ferdinand or Razorlight and thus far, no such luck. I'd say FFAF / Enter Shikari / Coheed are all possible choices but I can't see it happening . Maybe Brand New...God Please Brand New.

The kooks would never be 3rd headliner, as much as they hate them they sell way too many records for that slot. 2nd headliner is the lowest they could play. As for a heavier band headlining the radio 1 tent none of ffaf, enter shikari, coheed or brand new are big enough for that slot.

I reckon below Arctic Monkeys, what with the Yorkshire connection. I then hope they will go for a more established act to go below KOL. They had Queens last year, Arcade fire before that, I reckon we could be surprised. I also wouldn't be at all shocked for them to put a much heavier band headlining the NME stage one day.

The amount of records you've sold in the past means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING if you didn't go on to follow it up. If you don't agree, remind me where The Automatic were last year?

Saying the kooks are too big to play 3rd is absolutely laughable.

.Coheed / Brand New have both 2nd headlined the tent before, FFAF headlined it and Enter Shikari are much bigger then they were when they played 4th from top with a new album soon. I can easily see any of them headlining the tent to be honest (at least if the R1 stage was like it used to be lol), but I was just throwing out random names. Would be overjoyed with them anywhere on the line up anyway .

I know coheed and brnad new have 2nd headlined but neither have increased their popularity significantly enough to merit a headline slot on any stage other than the lock up. Neither can compete with the cribs, babyshambles and manics when it comes to popularity. As for enter shikari i assume they must have increased their popularity without me noticing. I thought they were awful last time they played so would certainly avoid if they headlined.

Are you expecting Radiohead to have a small audience? It will be massive

No it wont be small, but im thinking it wont be massive either. The crowd will not be as big as kol or arctics. I just dont see the normal reading crowd going for radiohead. Thats going off the point anyway. Im arguing the point of why coheed and brand new were apparently too small to be where they were on nme stage a few years ago.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
