Festivals sharing acts

I know that V & Glasto often share acts but V & Reading and Leeds rarely do. Download looks string this year with a number of acts, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson & Korn, who I was hoping might be at R&L this year. Does a Download appearance rule them out?

No it doesn't but the 3 you mentioned will be high up the bill at Download so I wouldn't expect them.

yeah,korn would be great at reading.is there any history of anyone playing high on download bill and also playing reading???

2006 - Bullet for my valentine played 3rd from top at both i believe - but were "special guests" at reading until after download

EDIT: in fact they were 5th from top at reading, 3rd at download

Officially - They Could play both

Realisticly - They tend not to

you get about 2 mid main stage bands shared but apart from that the lineups are kept apart. More so recently since (correct me if im wrong) they both have something to do with the same company

basically any of the top bands wont be playing both

2) Reading never shares with V (unless its a majorly small band)

3) Reading doesnt share the headliners with anyone bar glasto (usually)

4) Download doesnt share its headliners

Pendulum, The Subways, Elliot Minor and Kids in Glass Houses amongst others all played both Download and R+L last year.

Mind you none of them were near the top of eithier bill.

Id say top 2 on each day at Download won't play R+L, anyone else is a possibility.

Do you mean it doesn't share them with Reading/Leeds? Last year it shared Lostprophets with V Festival, year before My Chemical Romance were at T in the Park.

Bens formula is more or less right with thest tweeks. Basicly Glastonbury dose not cout and Reading, Download, IoW and V dont share major bands. They play 'england only' exclusives which of course allows them to Headline T and Oxygen. However this is not a hard and fast rule, sometimes certain bands will play more than one of the 3 esp when its say download an V who are not in as direct compertition as V and Reading or Reading and Download.

Lower down bands often cross over and midum bands will often have publicity imbargos which mean that they can only be announced on the day of the festival or after the other festival has happend. Ie if they were billed for Download but also playing Reading there would be a TBC/TBA or Special Guest slot in there place on the Reading bill which would be revealed as them after download. And if they were billed for Download and also playing Reading they would have to be under a TBC/TBA or special guest for reading untill after Download.

However nothing can be certain as its all to do with each unique contract with each band.

I think it only applies to bands who play main at both festivals which could explain why Bullet For My Valentine were on the NME stage last year even though they could have easily done Main.
