After 14 Glasto's I have learned a little to read the signs the weather gives leading up to the festival. Naturally, I hope I'm utterley and completely wrong, but I think we should consider packing for a wet one. Not biblical 2007 wet, but certainly muddy, dull and damp for the most part.

Proof those tents, camp away from the lower grounds, check those wellies and waterproofs for leaks and pack about 1M black plastic bags for muddy stuff.

If one more of my 'friends' sends me a link about that f*cking monsoon with a sarky comment about how wet I'm going to be I am going to SCREAM. Has anyone else had this? Why do these 'friends' seem to take so much pleasure in me getting swept away in a muddy storm rather than having an ace time?

This is from netweather i think its upto which forecast you beleive. its about 50/50 on wether we get good weather . Generaly i think we expect some rain and some sun but of the two hopefully more sun, but either way we'll be havin a good time.

Sunny and warm

June will be a month of two halves, a blocked first half and then a more unsettled second half, but I expect all regions to have a warm sunny month overall.

With strong high pressure to the north continuing to throw a ridge over the British Isles, the 1st to 4th of June will be dry and sunny almost everywhere, with maximum temperatures of 22 to 24C in most places, and 25-27C locally. It will be cooler on the east coast, however, and in south-east Scotland and north-east England and East Anglia some low cloud will roll in to coastal regions from the North Sea on the 2nd and 3rd. Inland parts of those regions will stay warm and sunny. In addition, there will be isolated thundery downpours over south-west England on the 1st and 2nd, and in central and northern Britain on the 3rd and 4th- but no more than 20% chance in any one location.

The 5th will be the hottest day of the week in central and eastern England with temperatures reaching 25-27C, but cloud and some light rain will spread south during the afternoon and evening. A sluggish northerly airflow on the 6th and 7th will bring dry sunny weather to the west, patchy cloud and a few light showers to the east, and highs ranging from 14-16C in eastern Scotland to 18-20C in many western areas. Some notably cold nights can be expected with a touch of frost in some inland northern areas.

The second week of June will commence with cool cloudy north-easterly winds over eastern and southern parts of England, but elsewhere it will continue dry with sunny spells. During the latter part of the week the high pressure will transfer eastwards, giving dry sunny weather everywhere and temperatures climbing back into the low to mid 20s Celsius. Towards midmonth there is a high probability of a Spanish plume setting up which will bring some thunderstorms for some parts of the country.

The third week is likely to be the most unsettled of the month with low pressure increasingly prevalent to the west of Britain, bringing bands of rain interspersed with brighter showery weather, especially later in the week. It will be a rather wet week in many western areas, and a thundery one in the south. Temperatures will reach highs of 22-25C in East Anglia and the southeast but it will be closer to average elsewhere. The last week is likely to continue in a similar vein but I envisage one or two high pressure interludes, most likely the 25th-28th, which will bring dry sunny weather

My faith in weather forcasts beyond 24 hours is zero.

What happened to that "barbeque summer" reference from the met office not so long ago.

My last G was 07 so I know how bad things can be This year I'm dreaming of sitting/laying on green grass watching Pyramid stage which I did achieve in 05 Friday afternoon, never to be repeated.

Just keeping fingers crossed.

You knows the score brother. The 'still too early for certainty' thing is why I'm still suspending judgement for the moment. Glastonbury 2009 is by no means a locked on washout yet, there remain SOME hopes for a predominantly pleasant one.

Prospects all very mixed right now ....

Big updates will kick in on Sunday (JACKONE's full on weekly update) and Monday (BBC's update). From early next week, the Met Office will start to project its thoughts over the relevant period too.

    • Based on previous times that rules quite a lot out of early summer festivals into the August runs.
    • No dramas man, I just like to follow others journeys as well. Get the inspiration, give out inspiration and the outdoors is the clear the head place to do it. I'm heading out for a easy trail run today I think, 10k- 10 mile we'll see how we go. I've got a half marathon in October I'm well unprepared for hahs
    • The Cheap Thrills at Mountford Hall, Liverpool.    They've been around for a while and have built up a large local following. Last night was their biggest yet, at a sold out 2,200 capacity venue.    It was a big old joyous, indie singalong from start to finish, the band clearly having the time of their lives. The debut album is out next month and they seem to be going down well on the festival circuit, maybe their time has finally come.   2 supports, I unfortunately missed Credits but the few songs they have on Spotify sound good, Americana vibes. The other was M60, reportedly Gary Neville's favourite band. If that's true, he's as clueless about music as he is football. To be fair, their sound was poor, maybe with a clearer sound they'd have been better but it was pretty dull.
    • I can see them all merging along with the Tory’s . Restore curently couldn’t muster enough candidates to be a viable option . I lasted 4 mins and couldn’t watch any more . Lowe is just dull along with racist
