Fuzzy, I am of your tribe. Anything above about 21C restricts me more than the nasty wet stuff. I'm scared now. (Rather than swim shorts, big wide legged trousers saved me in 2019. They are not pretty and it's counter-intuitive to cover up when you feel like a dog in a hot car but the waft when you move is a game changer. Clown trousers for all!)

From what I remember, even in 2016 the ground dried out a fair bit at first. Then more wet things happened and it got churned up and that was that.

I'd like to hope we'd be at least set up and doing the second run to the car to get the booze and such by now. However, the past few festivals we've ended up at whichever gate has a big logjam going on and been stranded hours. Going off that, sweating my arse off in the dreaded Gate A zigzags seems more likely.

The sound at Other is so hit and miss. It feels like the slightest breeze carries it away. After a patchy time ('07 was a disaster sound-wise, headliners sounded like a neighbours stereo through the wall!), the Pyramid is sounding tip top these days.

Is it possible they've not actually upgraded and Macca's screens will be in residence all weekend? Wasn't there a walkway one time? For Bono or Sprinty Dave or someone.

I've gotten a bit misty reading the thread. I share a few already mentioned. 2017. Not long after the Manchester Arena bombing. Vibe was nervous. Hobo Jones and the Junkyard Dogs played a heartfelt 'Three Little Birds' and it felt like we all sang and cried with relief and belief.

My intake naturally decreased over the years as enjoyment grew less and hangovers worse. During lockdown 1, when it looked like the rest of the world was having gin on their cornflakes, I rebelled. I've not gone totally dry but I can't actually remember the last time I had a drink and I don't miss it. My luggage will be significantly lighter this year. 🙂 My coffee intake has gone through the roof, mind. Proper Coffee better be in their usual spot.

She-wee if you're practiced at it, Pot Noodle (other brands available!) pot and decant to your bottle of choice if not. Or a paper pint cup but they can be a little unstable and spilly.

At some point, you might feel like some of the people featured in this thread. Any of us might, even us wrinkly old veterans. Recognise it for what it is if it happens, take time to re-balance yourself and then carry on. Embrace it cos once you hit the "what in the entire fuck am I doing here" low spot and negotiate it, the only way is up and that's where the magic is found. On another note, I don't understand how some people can do a festival *without* peeing in a suitable, lidded receptacle overnight and flushing it in the morning. Do you seriously get all dressed and troop off to the longdrops or lie there with your back teeth floating? Can't fathom it.

I think that if Glasto had the chance of both Relton and Macca or Billie and Taylor they'd snap it up regardless of how it makes the top line look. They are all massive acts with wide appeal.
