  1. I hadn't even thought of that issue with scales, but decided I can just eyeball it when camping.
  2. I think I got one from there last time and while the hot coffee was good, the iced wasn't great.

Either Erdinger has changed its recipe or I was just grateful for any old shit that wasnt Becks Blue cos I used to like it when I first stopped drinking. Had it again recently for the first time in ages. It is not good
  4. Bought a hand grinder and V60 that lives permanently in the van. Was worried it'd be a bit of a ball ache (use an electric grinder at home) but I really enjoy the whole ritual of it. God I sound like a w*nker, but I'm a w*nker with excellent coffee so I don't care.
  5. I'd never heard of him until the TV show came out, which I'm loving. It ain't reinventing the wheel but what it's doing it's doing very well. Gary Oldman is absolutely Gary Oldmaning the shit out of his role. To bring it back on topic, I might have to give the books a try

Out of all the big companies I actually think Heineken is one of the better ones. It's still a last resort mind. I once picked up a 4 pack of the Budweiser one (Prohibition?) for a quid from Poundstretcher or B&M or somewhere. I was robbed. I think it might even have been worse than Kaliber.

Yeah, not quite reached Cumbria yet. Give it 6 or 7 years and we'll be all over it

That would be great. Not seen on tap in this country yet (I'm still grateful when somewhere has more than 1 and none of them are Becks Blue) but I have abroad. Germany, Spain and Portugal that I can think of. There is just something much more satisfying drinking draught
  9. I started that a few years ago. It remember it as pretty good but i did abandon it half way through and I can't remember why. Should maybe give it another go
  10. Don't think there were any briefings on Monday, as there'd still be a lot of people to arrive. I remember it as Tuesday briefings for people working Wednesday, and Wednesday briefings for the rest. I think. Three years is a long time.

Interesting, and frustrating, that people are still getting these sort of comments. I honestly can't remember the last time I got a comment like that. Very commonplace when I first stopped drinking but that was probably partly to do with where I was too. Queenstown in New Zealand so a big backpacker town, ski resort and just very much a party place. I assumed those sort of attitudes were dying out but clearly not. I do tend t go out less where drinking is the focus, and if I am out I tend to go home earlier. Not because of any hassle or comments, just mainly because drunk people can be really annoying and boring. And there's only so much soda water I can drink!

To my taste buds (which, admittedly haven't had the real thing for about 15 years) the new AF Guinness is pretty good.

I've spent a fair chunk of the money I've saved from not drinking alcohol on fancy coffee beans, equipment, and in cafes.
  14. One if my first thoughts when I got it a couple if weeks ago was, at least this should see me through BT and Glastonbury. Then I spoke to these friends.
  15. Same. Or one of those high-tech ones with everything built in. Stayed in a hotel in Kuala Lumpur that had one. Life changing. Been chasing that high ever since
  16. Couple of friends recently had it 6 and 7 weeks apart
  17. Yeah, this is all correct I'm afraid. Assuming it's Oxfam. Like incident says, the only time I've known them allow late arrivals is at festivals they are struggling to fill and even then it'll likely only be long term volunteers.
  18. In a weird way, I'm glad 1995 was my first because if I'd been there in 94 then idiot teenage me would have been at some forgettable indie landfill or something on the NME stage instead of Johnny Cash. And the regret from that would've been massive.
  19. "Who are these young upstarts with guitars? What's wrong with a good old fashioned lute?"
  20. It does give the people replying to the very obvious jokes about being out of touch a chance to show everyone just how in touch they are though. Which is important.
  21. Looking forward to Skin Clump
  22. I use one of these. Nice and simple, although not currently available through Amazon. I think it may even have originally been recommended by someone on here.
  23. How that uber driver didn't just drive in to an oncoming truck
  24. My first (1995, we were 18) there were 3 of us in a two man tent. And it had a big hole in it too. Thank fuck it didn't rain that year.
