hi guys i know it says on the Q&A for the coach no trolleys but wondering has anyone got a cooler box on board as mine is on wheels and will carry my beer ??? will i be lucky or am i chancing it ???

Depends how much other stuff you're taking, they get arsey only really when someone turns up with tonnes of stuff and causes huge lack of space. They may ask you to keep some of your stuff on your lap

thanks - gonna be a tough 1 this - the cooler box is pretty large - it takes 70 beers or somet

Any particular reason you need it and just can't carry beers yourself? Remember it's a pain in the backside to carry stuff even if it's on wheels (you'd need big pram wheels for glasto)

If it boils down to my rucksack and sleeping bag or your mobile beer cooler then unfortunately you'd be waving goodbye to it on the pavement. It specifically states one rucksack a sleeping bag and tent per person for a reason. There's another 50ish people to concider. Take enough for the day you get there and then get the shuttle into town for extra supplies.

We took a cooler a few years ago when I worked. So we took our stuff in, in a car. The beer only stayed noticably cool for 2 days.

Not worth it for the extra weight and size of an esky.

I'm a fan of sticking to stuff that tastes good warm/room temp. Ale, red wine etc. Gonna try craft beer this year as I reckon that'll be alright non cold.

I am guessing you have an Igloo Maxcold on wheels? And although it is advertised as taking 70+ beers, you do need a lot of ice to make it last the festival. I freeze a 5 litre water bottle then add a bag of loose ice, it remains cold until Monday.

The cooler is far larger than any rucksack so yes it's a risk. Have you considered how it will pull across farmland, especially if its a wet one? Saw a few people struggling with them last year and as much as I love ours, no way would I want to lug it in excess of a mile even if it had wheels as they are too small to cope!

We take our caravan so no limitations on what we take. If going by coach I would stick to what can be taken without a cooler.

Dude, not a point about the coach, but don't take the cooler. The wheels will get irreversibly fucked. Possibly before you get to where you're camping. They're not meant for that sort of shit. If you do decide to take it, PM me when it breaks and I'll walk to you and help you drink it to save the carrying.

yes your rights its an igloo maxcloud - and i took it to the festival by car a few years ago beer was still cold on the sunday and i went on the wednesday - no problem moving it around in fact very easy - trick is to get the beer to almost freezing point when you put them in - and they stay cold the entire time - as I'm not taking a tent - Im gonna chance it ...

Where are you going from? Some locations will be very busy and you could be preventing someone else getting their luggage on the coach by taking a large cooler. With the coach you should only really take what you absolutely need, so one large rucksack, tent/sleeping bad and one piece of hand luggage like a bag for life etc. We are having to leave our usual sack truck at home

In 2014 I caught the coach to Glasto, decided to fill my 60L rucksack with beer so that I could use my other hands for carrying tent, chair, sleeping bag and another crate of beer. The bag was absolutely brimming, like barely able to force the clips to reach each other, but I managed it and got it safely in the storage bit of the coach. However - we then arrive at Glasto, the driver opens the storage section and my bag has decided to buckle under the pressure, the straps that were holding it shut had snapped, about half the beers had rolled out, and then as soon as he opened the storage they fell on to the floor, got dents in the cans and started doing that mad fizzy thing where they boost off all over the place with beer spraying everywhere and everyone. About 50 people stood there waiting for their bags as they get covered in exploding beers, causing absolute mayhem.

And this also meant that my clothes were all strewn all over the place in a big beery mess. Massive face palm.

So yeah, take a cooler if you can!
