Listening to The Times The Are A-Changin' for the first time in a few years.

One of my favourite Dylan tunes.

When The Ship Comes In.

Dylan, Keef and Ronnie Wood absolutely butchered it at Live Aid............ real end of Braveheart sort of performance. Punters shouting "mercy" up at the stage and covering their ears.

I love this duet with Johnny Cash on Nashville Skyline. I'm sure they'd both imbibed a bit too much when they recorded this in a late night session. Sounds like two happy drunks staggering out of the pub together.

The line that absolutely kills me in this song

'You, you just sit around and ask for ashtrays, can't you *reach*'

:)

My favourite line in the song too. Nobody ever spat venom like Dylan.

As for this.

"Idiot wind blowing every time you move your mouth,

Blowing down the backroads heading south,

Idiot wind blowing every time you move your teeth,

You're an idiot babe,

Its a wonder you still know how to breathe."

"You hurt the ones that I love best and cover up the truth with lies,

One day you'll be in the ditch, flies buzzing around your eyes"

ooh yeah great version of a great song, I love angry Bob

can you please crawl out your window

positively 4th street

I don't believe in you

even 'what was it you wanted' off 'oh mercy'

I can see the rest of this week is going to be all about Dylan

She's Your Lover Now missing verse:

Now your eyes cry wolf,

While your mouth cries "I'm not scared

Of animals like you."

And you, there's been nothing of you I can recall;

I just saw you that one time. You were just there, that's all.

But, I've already been kissed,

I'm not gonna get into this.

I couldn't make it, anyhow.

You do it for me,

You're her lover now.

It was cut off the end of the recording accidentally. Also, I have a poster in my room of that picture of Dylan from the video of She's Your Lover Now that you posted Nal.

this has now got me considering whether to go to Hop Farm.

First saw Dylan in 89, after the release of Oh mercy and he was great

Last saw Dylan in the Fleadh a few years back, and he was appalling

had convinced myself I never wanted to see him again, but after spending the day listening to him, I just don't know. Go on, tell me he'll be awful, reassure me that I won't be missing a thing.

Last time I saw him was in Dublin on the Together Through Life tour and he was great. New stuff sounded superb and he did a killer version of Just Like a Woman.

Not sure about a festival crowd though? You really have to work as a Dylan fan at his gigs sometimes!

I'd hold off. That won't be his only UK gig of the year.

When I saw Dylan at Hop Farm '10 he was a bit more active than when I saw him at o2 Arena. I know that isn't saying much, but he seemed to be more up for it at a festival. He played a lot of newer stuff but we got Rainy Day Woman #12 and 35. Everybody must get stoned!!!!!!

Yeah, you're right Nal, think I'll give it a miss. I'll be honest, I'm not that fussed about anything he's done in the last 20 years, no matter how much anyone heralds it as a return to form, it really really isn't. But thanks to this thread, I've listened to more Dylan this week than I have in ages. Rekindled my love. I owe you.

    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
    • No argument that he’s bigger than ever, I just have no enthusiasm for it.
    • Keep in mind those crowds were full of teenagers. Glasto aint full of teenagers. Theres no way she could demand headline and get it because they got other acts to give the slot to who deserve it with a bigger catalog. Reading/Leeds would headline her cause its still LN.  If the fest was struggling its Other headline. But a 3rd down Pyramid is likely the landing spot. Itll go down like the Camila Cabello performance pretty much.
