If this is the weekend of Glasto, then i suppose they have to be considred at least a rumour for the festival.

The new album should be good as well, most of it was recorded over a decade ago, so it'll hopefully retain the MBV sound.

Yeah I just saw this. Would be awesome if they did. Maybe on the other stage before The Verve (Or vice versa)???

I emailed the guy who puts rumours up on efestivals and this is what he said-

"thanks, but TBH I don't think it's that likely that they'll play at Glasto - reforms normally go for big-bucks offers, and Glasto doesn't pay well."

Whatever... Why else would they organise a tour that week in the UK.

Wireless could be possible, however I can't see them doing Wireless or Glastonbury. I expect them to do something like the Meltdown festival and Connect in the UK, maybe even T In The Park - but I expect them do more festivals else where - Coachella, Benicassim, Summercase, Rock en Seine and maybe Rock Werchter.

  • 2 weeks later...

C4 teletext yesterday apparently quoted MBV's manager as saying they'll not be doing festivals next year, rather their own shows and kicking out a new album. B) & :P respectively.

Mind you, dug out an old NME from 94 where it was reported that the new album was just a few months away. Over 13 years later.....

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
    • No argument that he’s bigger than ever, I just have no enthusiasm for it.
