funny watching this thread as i have done, obsessively, the last couple of fests.

All websites got everything wrong in 2005.

The friday am downpour was only predicted on the thursday morning and not to that extreme.

I watched the beeb this morning and it wasn't even reporting the present weather accurately let alone predicting it correctly.

Anything can happen although we are due a good one.

BBC Monthly Outlook looks promising. ;)

Monday 18th to Sunday 1st July 2007

“Becoming warmer again”

The Azores high looks set to build again extending a ridge of high pressure across the UK. Temperatures are expected to be on the warm side especially in northern parts.

Rainfall amounts will probably be around the seasonal average, although it could be slightly drier than normal in the southeast. Average amounts of sunshine are expected.

Don't forget folks that the festy is deep in a lovely warm womb-like valley of moist lush velvetness and its always at least 5C warmer than up on them hills. Honestly tho I've noticed this in the past, just from leaving the CV fields and getting into the site on a daily basis. A chillyish 16 can become a very warm 21 within a couple of hundred yards whether its sunny or not.

Just don't let it rain pleeeeeeeeeeeeeze. I hate mud at festivals, its not right! ;)

not an expert, but it looks as though this warm settled weather is going to peak this weekend and then end with thunderstorms, unsettled conditions by monday or tuesday next week.

could this be a good thing? will things pick up again? ;)

The Synoptic chart for the 21st June, shows a continuation of the likely unsettled theme we have seen recently, however if we look towards the 22nd chart there are definite signs of a ridge of High pressure from the Azores.

Again looking to the GEFS, the charts both show an increased chance of High Pressure compared to yesterday's charts, and the average high pressure is much higher than yesterday showed. However even with this, some charts are still going for an unsetttled period with some heavy rain likely.

ag. am in the throes of a full on weather panic. will someone please reassure me that i will have a great time no matter what??

in my more rational moments i agree wholeheartedly with those who say that there is no way they can predict the weather at this stage. 2 days ago every forecast was showing london as clear blue skies and 24c. instead it's completely cloudy and about 19c.

i'm also having a bbq on 16th and metcheck reckons it's gonna piss it down. *sigh*

Not even saying this to make you feel better - you're right, no one can predict it with any great degree of accuracy yet. I'll be mildly interested about five days beforehand, but I'll be going by whatever info I can get right before I leave work on the Tuesday night. Which I will of course post here.

The CURRENT synoptic chart (inside the back page of today's Guardian) doesn't look good. Phat and slow moving Low Pressure just to the West of Spain Portugal, which could very essily come in the UK's direction in the next few days (please not), with not much sign yet of any big High Pressure building to the SW of us .... there's currently a big High Pressure (which will 'slowly decline') to the North of Ireland. Not a good position!

Oh cheers for that Monday 18th promise Tenner! I may come to curse you for it though ...

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
