I cant see Kasabian Headline the main stage, but they will either play high up on it or headline the other stage.

Going to see them at Earls court next week for there biggest ever gig so will be interesting to see how they cope.

Cannot understand the attraction of The Who, a bunch of crocks and a big nosed pedio, seen them at T last year and they where ordinary to say the least, its the one thing that pisses me of about the Glasto lineup every year we seem to have some old washed up rockers that everybody creams themselves at, and they turn up and bore the pants of everybody.

To quote an old dead rocker "you glorify the past and the future dries up"

hmmmm ... the police/CPS chose to make no prosecution, it's not the same as 'innocent'.

It's certainly the case that Townsend only claimed to be doing research AFTER he knew he was being investigated, and that Townsend made false statements about the order that the events occurred. Without detailed knowledge of every detail, the lies made by Townsend certainly raise my suspicions.

Was thinking along Neil's lines before Tony's post, especially working in an industry where people can avoid being prosecuted for something they very likely did do due to lack of sufficient evidence or a balls-up with the investigation.

However, on balance I'm prepared to believe the guy's innocence given Tony's post.

That is NOT the case. He did tell someone before he was investigated, but he was advised not to say anything. As far as I remember - I can't find the exact details, but I was following the story closely, being a big fan of his - it was later proven that his version of the story was true, that got mixed up with other details that hadn't been relayed.

You'd be jumpig down someone's throat for getting things like this wrong Neil.

What I don't understand, is why do people 'want' him to be a paedophile?

Townsend claimed to have contacted some child abuse agency/charity before he knew he was bei9ng investigated. This was false, and it was proved by that agency/charity that he only contacted them after he knew he was being investigated. Townsend used this false fact to lessen the fingers of guilt being pointed his way. This is NOT wrong - this is proved beyond all doubt.

What is not proved beyond all doubt is why Townsend was paying to look at child pornography. From the very link you posted, he says something about child porn being everywhere on the net. If this was the case, why did Townsend have to get out his credit card to see some for 'research'?

Who knows what the complete facts are? - not me. But I do know that Townsend told porkies and was found out.

The story you've raised isn't the story I was on about.

Yes, he emailed them before his arrest, but he emailed them AFTER he knew he was being investigated (he knew he was being investigated long before he was arrested). The statements Townsend made when this matter (of him visiting child porn websites) first all became public either stated categorically or implied that he'd been in touch with them before or at around the same time as he looked at those websites: he didn't, he only got in touch with them when he knew he was in the shit.

    • It feels really busy this year, loads of big groups of youngsters too. Slightly different vibe to previous years I've been. As with Tramlines, they're very chatty during sets and there's a constant stream of them in and out of the crowd... definitely feeling my age 😂   The Quarry stage I think is a lot smaller than previous years - seems similar size to Squid/Leadmill. Some sets have been difficult to get in.   I think I've reached my limit with mid-tier indie guitar bands. There's been quite a few this weekend where I've gone over to see them then walked away after 20 mins. Surprisingly, enjoyed the Fratellis set the most in this genre. Probably getting on for 20 years since I last saw them. Wasn't expecting them to do Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which was fab!   Hugely enjoyed the Happy Mondays yesterday, and same but different with Radio Free Alice who I saw again on Friday, following Tramlines last weekend. A big run of pop acts today - Scissor Sisters will be fantastic!
