Ooo Ooo I'd forgotten about this thread.

I bought a book called The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness for my brother at Christmas. Having picked it up after the dinner, I couldn't put it down and read it all in a day or so...then discovered on the last page it was the first book in a trilogy - and the next part wasn't out til May - Nooooooooo!

Anywho, the second book came out and I scurried down to Waterstones to buy it (The Ask and The Answer) and it was equally as brilliant, if a little dampened by the fact I knew I'd have to wait a year for the last book to found out what happens.

It's technically a "young adults" book, despite the fact I winced my way through the violence of the second book and fretted about giving it to my little bro. I couldn't explain it very well without giving away the story, but this review should give you a flavour. Please, please, please read it!

I'm reading The Corner at the moment. You can tell that it's written by the same guys that wrote The Wire as it very much drops you into the story without any real explanation of who the characters are and you just have to go with it. I'm enjoying it, although as i'm not a fast reader it is taking me a long time to get through it as it's over 600 pages.

What book are you currently reading? Old Man's War by John Scalzi - Its a sci-fi, which I don't normally read. However I saw it on a workmates desk, liked the look of it, and am really enjoying it.

Last book read? The boy in the Striped Pyjama's - John Boyne - Thought provoking book, written from a boy's perspective.

Favourite author? Stephen King, Alistair Maclean, Gerald Seymour

Favourite book? Too many to pin one down - Lord of the Rings, Captain Correlli's Mandolin, A Thousand Splendid Suns, The Dark is Rising sequence, Archangel......

Cant read? A brief History of Time Stephen Hawkings - Found it hard going.

I still don't understand how anyone can rate American Psycho. Should I read it again? The naff prose and general predictability of it put me off the first time. Now Chandler ...
