Offspring weren’t selling out the arenas that they have been when they headlined slam dunk.

Did you miss their 2021 November Arena tour?, 7 UK arenas? They didn't suddenly sell out bigger arenas off the back of playing Slam Dunk. ADTR last arena tour was 5 arenas also with only Wembley Arena as the London date.

Also to point out, The Offspring got their Download sub slot over a year before they even announced and played the bigger arena tour.

ADTR are a weird one because they haven’t done a tour over here in so long. I did question whether they would still be in arenas but there’s a nostalgia market for everything now so I think they definitely would be playing those venues.

That doesn't dispute the claim that The Offspring weren't selling out arenas before Slam Dunk, they were and convincingly.

You did indeed mention a while back about ADTR dropping down due to quality output and whatever reasons.

It’ll be way off and it’s way too silly to predict but just for a bit of fun:

2027: Deftones, Blink-182 & System Of A Down

2028: The Offspring, Iron Maiden & Slipknot

2029: Papa Roach, Bad Omens & Bring Me The Horizon

2030: Knocked Loose, Metallica & Ghost

Did you not only predict Slipknot yo be back the other day for 2027?

Personally if Ghost need to wait until then to headline it won't happen. I dont think Papa Roach will either.

2028 would be a mega trio but nothing about it says Download 2.0 if people are still pretending that's a thing.

Yeah I’ve changed my mind back. I keep thinking it’s 2025 still so I thought Slipknot being 2 years away felt right but then remembered it’s 2026 so I swapped them to 2028 in place of System (it gives the Knot time to get a new album out as well).

Ghost will be a BMTH situation imo; when they do eventually headline, it’ll be long, lone overdue.

I don’t want Papa Roach to headline but if they sell those arenas well enough, they’re in the conversation. It’s also about whether or not the nu metal nostalgia train is still going by then.

I just thinking with a fresher team booking and who they've got for different that Ghost will have to do it before then.

Slipknot probably will have a new album, they shouldn't play without onr but they've done stayed away for longer than 4 years since headlining, if anything that's a lot lol.

I don't think Papa Roach will headline, and I don't think they'll take it over others either. There has been so many opportunities for then to return as well in that whole time and they've even got 4 dates covering 5 days over the Download period this year. They even teased people on socials with Download when they literally were never playing it.

If Download don’t manage to book Ghost to headline until 2030 then they’re doing something wrong.

I’m not sure Deftones and System will both be back in Europe again next year. I’ll take a wild stab in the dark and guess next year we’ll get something like: Blink 182, Slipknot, Pearl Jam.

On average Download will have 2 arena bands and 1 stadium band headlining per year this year is a bit of an anomaly having 2 stadium bands although Linkin Park didn't do stadiums before this return so you can argue that they aren't an established stadium band

I'd love something like Blink, SOAD and Slipknot although I can't see them booking System and Slipknot in the same year as good as that would be

Blink, Iron Maiden and Slipknot would be my educated guess at the moment

This is extremely unlikely/unrealistic but I tried to make a download that I believe would sell the most tickets while also keeping the Download 2.0 booking (especially the Saturday)

The Prodigy would have to clash with System because they can't play in the daytime

I know Spiritbox only played third down in 2025 but I feel they are already at sub level now and there's lots of bands getting bump ups compared to when they last played

I'm pretty sure Maiden have said no shows in 2027 a while back. To be honest if you're selling Wembley out at the cost and speed they did it's probably fair to say they are that level now by virtue of the times. The arenas they were playing before everything maxed up and got so big are gigs that artists nowhere near their size even going back are now doing. It really isn't taking as much to pull of arenas now.

Download have also had a year recently with no stadium bands at all, not even Slipknot are a stadium band.

That's the reason The Prodigy either headline main or don't play. Download 2.0 lasted for one year, it's not really a thing, it's what they can pretend.

Turnstile will be in the headliner conversations by next year watch this space

Whether they'd actually want to play Download or not is a different question

100% this. The ball will be in their court.

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
