is there a law restricting atcs from playing more than one festival? Would seem very restrictive if so.. I though that usually only paplies to headliners but could be wrong...

The major Danish festivals (Roskilde, Copenhell, Heartland, Tinderbox, Syd For Solen, etc) typically have exclusivity contracts in place for the main names that restricts them from playing other Danish fests and/or their own shows within the that year. Mostly due to being such a small country in size/population so greater competition. There are the rare exceptions for the lower acts; but I can't think of a single major name that's been shared in the same year. This is the case for most countries in Europe (including UK for Download, R&L etc)

new names tomorrow as you expected.

hope I will know more than two names this time 😄

who we hoping for? I'd love Florence and the Machine and David Byrne, along with some decent mid-sized bands.. If they can pull a few good names out I'm booking my flight tomorrow.

Guessing any of: Zara Larsson (Headliner), Raye, Halsey (Arena headliner), Florence & Machine (Headliner) David Byrne, Twenty One Pilots (Arena headliner), Four Tet

Metronome Festival, which takes place the week before, announced Orville Peck, Rose Gray, and Purity Ring today. Slowdive, Ela Minus, The Flaming Lips, or Judeline were already announced. We might also see some of those, as I believe all of them would be a fit for Roskilde.

Flaming Lips in the tent would be amazing!!

Are we expecting a lot more names? Do they usually announce most of the line-up by the second announcmeent or will they drip feed it until next year>?

They drip feed end of each month. Usually 10 to 15 each drop including 1 or 2 top names, 5 ish mid names and then the smaller acts. They said they could probably do a full poster drop earlier but prefer this release method as it gives people time to investigate the lower artists each month instead of just focusing on the top names.

Top names also include the Arena tent headliners; such as Deftones and Nine Inch Nails for 2025 lineup.

Deftones and NIN weren't even on the main stage? Jeez.. bet those gigs were mental!

Cheers.. Fingers crossed for a few big names tomorrow then!

This isn't pulling any punches on the whole.

I get the sense you used the wrong phrase there. Not pulling punches would suggest they've gone all in, which I doubt you're actually saying! Haha Unless you ate a hearty bowl of positivity for your breakfast!!? lol

P,S this is a joke, so you don;t need to take offence 😉

Happy with those new names so far: Byrne, Kneecap, Simz are all acts I haven't seen before but are on my list! Adding those to Cure, Gorillaz, Ethel Cain; it's a solid mix.

Recognise some Zara Larsson songs; will probably be a fun show as Roskilde crowd like to turn up for Scandinavian acts.

Also for me some nice lower down additions: Callous Daoboys, Ecca Vandal, Primitive Man

The Roskilde lineup always looks patchy and fills up as it goes. And half the fun is having pockets of time to roam and discover new stuff. 😄

Haha, I did mean it looks a little light haha. I expected after the first big drop was pretty light it would pick up a bit?,  despite them having obviously two of the headliners around.

Apparently this Zara Larsson is massive but I've never even heard of her tbh!

I'm buzzing with David Byrne, Little Simz is decent for a rapper (rap's not really my thing) and Kneecap are a load of fun. Royel Otis will be decent too, so I'm pretty pleased and think I'm going now...

For lineups I think Mad Cool and Werchter will be the best, but I've been to both festivals and they're verylacking in other areas so I'm intrigued to see what Roskilde is like 🙂

As said before, they spread the variety of acts out. Each announcement looks light on its own but combined is usually quite stuffed.

To be honest even the last two years, especially 2024 they seems to have a lot of stuff higher than many other festivals have them and lack depth and Thursday and Saturday this year seemed the same. Byrne, Kneecap, Zara and Simz might actually looks stronger but are they sub names?

I think a big draw with this festival isn't just the lineup, it's the wealth of other things going on, too, that makes it appealing.... There aren't many festivals with significantly bigger lineups than Roskilde, either. Like I said, MC and RW may have, but at those festivals in particular, there's nothing else going on. Mad Cool especially. It feels less like a festival experience and more like a city break with gigs thrown in. Rock Werchetr has good lineups, but when I went there, I thought the festival itself was very basic and limited....

If it';s purely the lineup you're going for then yeah, I suspect there are better festivals out there. But when it comes to getting a full-on festival experience, Im expecting to get a lot more bang for my buck with roskilde.

I think even Sziget delivers more on that basis though. Getting Foos and The Cure is big I agree but Glastonbury has more going on for example, not profit and will pull in bigger lineups. I do get Glastonbury is kinda its own animal.

Interesting to hear you thought Werchter was quite basic, to be honest thetime hasn't said basic before but has said outside of the music there isn't much.

I actually like the idea of the MC option of going in, seeing your bands and back to a bed and chilling through the city before hand.

Werchter for example this year had so many big gaps for me that I always kinda wish it had that option to explore elsewhere and come back with like a 3 hours gap. Obviously everyone is different on that but I'd have squashed it down to 3 days and padded it out rather than chase around and already weak and repeated Saturday.
