If you lived in the Glastonbury area,

of Somerset, back in the 1960s.

This 1961 Petrol Engine Dennis,

Fire Engine, would have been heard ringing its bells,

on its way to many fires, and other incidents, in the area.

Still around today, but only for pleasure,

not as a working appliance.

Seen at a show in Somerset recently.

The Dennis was the standard fire appliance with most U.K. brigades, along with the merryweather turntable engine. From personal experience I remember back in the 60s them turning up regularly at my school when someone decided to set off the fire alarm 😊😉
