No chance do Rush play Download in 2027 or any other time. They don’t play festivals.

Wasn't that largely down to Neil though, same reason they didn't play in Europe on their last tour as he just wanted to limit the dates on it so only played in North America. It's unlikely yes but I don't think it's impossible the remaining members might change the policy.

As much as I’d love it to be Blink 182 I can’t see it, would Graspop book them there?

Also next time they tour 99.9% sure they’ll be doing some stadiums.

I could see them doing Wembley or Spurs to be fair

Are Rush headliner material? Felt more like Glastonbury legends slot to me

What the actual f**k? Rush are guaranteed headliner material if they're willing to do festivals without question. They'd headline Glastonbury never mind Download, certainly not legends slot. It's not even a debate to be had.

Fair enough - I knew they were big but didn't think they were THAT big

Outbreak announcement is here. Was hoping for Suicidal Tendencies at Download.

I think I'm the only one really underwhelmed by that lineup lol, especially after the last couple of years

Hoping the second announcement is better

I’d strongly argue they would not headline download in the 2020’s. Download moving away from booking bands big from the 70’s & 80’s etc apart from universally well known bands. I’ve never heard of Rush so going to say good portion of the younger crowd won’t have either.

Is this just personal bias or am I out of the loop lol

They are big and it's their reunion but really?

Yeah a Rush stadium tour in the UK does seem a bit mad. They're not even doing that in America and Canada, where they are much bigger. I would also say Rush wouldn't headline Glasto or DL. They are not as big in the UK as people are saying. They could do an arena tour easily but I would be really surprised at anything more.

Agreed. Saw Basement with Knocked Loose earlier this year and wasn't really impressed. Never been an Alexisonfire guy and most of the lower down stuff isn't a ticket seller for me. ST, Converge and Hatebreed slap, but its not worth it for me right now.

I think Rush do some arena shows if they come here at all

Hi,

I thought Rush a little but I think that’s not the direction Download is moving in. Plus it’s prog. Nobody really wants prog as a headliner. I love prog and Rush by the way 😀 but I get that on a majority. Attracting people…might want newer stuff.

I agree. I love Rush but they are not that big. Highly influential but yeah. I feel lucky I got see them in Sheffield over a decade ago.

I'm pretty sure this is the same guy who was rage baiting saying Whitesnake and Motley crue should headline download so I wouldn't take anything he says seriously

They're one of, if not the biggest rock band still active from the 70s - with songs that have travelled  through generations. I'm not quite sure how you've managed to avoid ever hearing The Spirit of Radio / Tom Sawyer / Freewill / Closer To The Heart / Time Stand Still / Fly By Night - just to name a few. I think there a legacy band download would book knowing it would shift tickets even if not necessarily among the younger demographics. Have them as the closing Sunday night headliner and then two of Bad Omens / Ghost / Parkway Drive / Architects / Alter Bridge and their ilk on the other two nights.

An arena tour would definitely sell tickets don't get me wrong but they are nowhere near a stadium band and i doubt they are big enough over hear to headline Download and definitely not Glastonbury

Even Crue and Whitesnake are more likely than Rush. I would have seen an argument for Crue at DL a couple years back since their film introduced them to a new audience, but they already recently did a co-headline stadium show with Def Leppard (who have headlined DL before). So I reckon anyone who wants to see them had their chance.

They are a stadium band, especially if they want to do 1 gig 1 venue which is probably how they'll do it as there trying to limit dates - they'd sell out Wembley. If they don't do their own shows and take the festival route instead they could headline Glastonbury or Download comfortably as one-off shows.

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
