Everybody has had an opportunity to see GNR between 2018 and now and many of us left a bit disappointed from our experience. Rebooking them is madness.

Linkin Park aren't the Linkin Park most of us remember and loved and have been booked on name value alone.

Limp Bizkit are an awful band and shouldn't be headlining any serious rock festival.

The sad thing about Linkin Park is if Chester was still alive and Download booked them people would have been moaning about them headlining again.

It's an okay trio for me

I'm very happy about Electric Callboy as every time I've been to a festival they've either clashed with a band I wanted to see more or cancelled like at download 2024 (I hope they don't clash or cancel this time)

This is such an "I'm more important than everyone else" post.

It isn't objectively bad bookings, it just isn't to your tase. You aren't the be all and end all.

I never said or implied I am the be all and end all, I just disagree with your assertion that it will somehow sell well. A novelty band, a band who've been touring for 8 years and a band that aren't a patch on their previous incarnation is not going to sell well. I say that as a fan of GNR and Linkin Park; lots of us just don't have a massive desire to see them live anymore.

You said that Limp Bizkit shouldn't be booked on any serious rock festival when they are one of the most popular bands in the world at the moment

True personally I loved their debut album and Meteora was so so but after that not so great for me. Creating hype and PR is definitely a major factor nowadays in selling bands to the public. Just look at President an EP of 6 (mediocre) songs and people are going nuts for them.

They wouldn't, it's years since they last headlined it would be fine.

If Chester hadn't died though they would have toured heavily and would feel tired. They would have probably done Download at least twice in that time plus like three arena tours.

Anyway

Ghost Blink 182 System Of A Down for 2027.

I expect Ghost will be on a break next year. System won't cross the Atlantic again so soon. Blink, maybe, why not. Probably due a Metallica return and also maybe Maiden.

Their a novelty band and they really aren't one of the most popular bands in the world, even so I don't care how popular they are, they shouldn't be headlining a festival at the hallowed grounds of Donnington. It's sacrilege.

Guns n Roses, Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park are massive bookings. Might not be up your alley, but they're huge.

GnR one of the biggest rock bands of all time. Linkin Park one of the biggest nu-metal bands of all time on a comeback tour and their first Download for 11 years, also one of the first chances to catch them in the UK in that time frame where tickets are readily available from the off. Limp Bizkit just had their first no.1 EVER, they're more popular than ever.

Even if it isn't your thing, it is objectively very good, and I think it'll sell really well.

Are you trying to convince yourself with the only festival of that capacity taking the Bizkit leap lol. A no.1 isnt very hard to get these days haha. 4 years running.

GNR are massive yes but no one wanted them and LP yes.

Who speaks like this? Get with it, Limp Bizkit are gonna kill it, and there's nothing you can do about it.

"I don't care how popular they are they shouldn't play because I don't like them" okay mate

Disagree that Linkin Park have been booked on name value alone.

They sold out Wembley Stadium this year, and seemingly their comeback has had some serious traction. Are they the same band as they were with Chester? Not completely. But they're over a year into consistent touring, and still continuing to sell massive amounts of tickets. It's easily past the point of being a name booking now. Despite the naysayers, Emily is a decent fit for the band and is only getting better as time goes on. From Zero is also a banging album, to be fair.

It's a great booking, and day tickets will sell just fine.

You don't book a band like Limp Bizkit for a Donnington festival when Rush are touring..

It's not about whether I like them or not, headlining Donnington should be for rock bands not novelty pop acts who happen to be heavy.
