Splendour 2025

I don't see as it's been mentioned yet, despite a quick search.

So just to confirm, 2024 was indeed just a hiatus, and Splendour is back for 2025. https://www.splendourfestival.com/news/splendour-to-return-in-july-2025/

No lineup yet, but tickets are on sale now. https://www.splendourfestival.com/tickets/?_ga=2.126081099.795531582.1727088178-183278695.1726658183

I'll update the thread with a poster when it drops (unless I'm beaten to it, which is most likely.)

£112 for adult weekend I guess is keeping it quite reasonable. I remember picking up 2022 tickets for extremely good value two days before and I went in 23. 2012 my first one.

Only done both days the once, but have done odd days here and there throughout the years.

I've always had family or friends at Confetti, Nephew there at the minute. Although I've not even asked if they're involved again this year, I assume they are.

I'm considering at least Saturday. Bloc Party was always in my thoughts due to where their other gigs were doing.

Wait for a second drop first though. They could have certainly done much worse.

Enough there to make a weekend ticket worth it. Probably go to both days, but roll up quite late in the afternoon on Sunday.

Last time I saw Kaiser Chiefs was in Nottingham, supported by the Fratellis. 🙈🤣 I feel like that was about £50 alone. (Actually, scratch that, they were at KC in 2023 too, value point still stands though.)

Jake Bugg is a local lad isn't he?

Yeah Jake Bugg is which returning is likely why they've booked him and behind Bloc Party is a solid top top. Add Natasha Bedingfield and Seasick Steve.

I'm expecting Clean Bandit and SEB to be second stage headliners. I've already got Kaiser Chiefs and potentially Travis at other places so can see it being just the day. That being said I've also got Bloc Party at one of those place too. It's whether I can be bothered to travel over 3hrs not knowing what accommodation options I can get within price rather than an hours travel and then easy bus ride return.

There's a bus at least every 15 minutes from Ilkeston, but we'll usually jump in an uber to Wollaton Road anyway, cheap enough, and avoids the 45+ minute walk to Ilkeston for the bus.

Could stick a tent in our beer garden? 🤣

If I could find a way to get to Ilkeston from the station then I wouldn't rule that out for one night.

If you're serious then a lot of the trains from the North to Nottingham stop at Ilkeston since the Ilkeston station reopened a few years ago. If you change in Chesterfield at all, which many trains from Newcastle do (Newcastle - York - Chesterfield - Nottingham) it certainly stops in Ilkeston. Leeds to Nottingham train stops there too.

It's a genuine offer btw, only thing to keep in mind is that I wouldn't advise pitching it in the daytime. Beer garden gets busy on a Saturday in the summer, and parents these days don't seem to know how (or want) to control their kids in a pub. But pitching when we get back on the Saturday night isn't an issue, done it many times before.

It's a popup anyway. I'm from south by the way so I'd have to come north.

Well... that makes your name very confusing!!!! I thought you were from Newcastle, Gateshead, South Shields, Sunderland or somewhere close to that part of the world! I feel betrayed and deceived. 🙈🤣🤣🤣

Haha, I'm a united fan....for my sins. It randomly popped into my head thinking of a name. I'm 50 minutes south of Nottingham by train

I assume you know what the Angel of the North is though?

Loads of trains from Nottingham to Ilkeston, can't see it costing you much more to just change in Nottingham, so the option's there if you need it.

Off topic, but does 50 mins south put you anywhere near Bedford? There's a reason I ask that, not relating to this hobby. 🙂

I do know what it is yes lol, seen it a couple of times.

Yeah I'm 20 minutes north of Bedford by train.

    • Primavera refunding day tickets which are probably a negligible percentage of attendees yesterday.
    • Thursday day tickets being refunded. Fair play.
    • I’ve had a good sleep and I feel weirdly zen about the whole thing.   My first Primavera, so not the greatest first impression. I guess today couldn’t be any worse, right?   Thoroughly enjoyed Men I Trust and Geese. Cupra is a beautiful stage and the crowd seemed fun, friendly and engaged.   I think it probably could have gone even worse, considering how dangerous the crowding felt at times.   Anyway, we go again.
    • Brighton centre is a weird old venue for the Mary Wallopers - a great band, a really good live spectacle, and its a saturday night as well which sets it all up - but its at the bloody Centre? a charmless nonsense of a conference centre? Brighton dome is a ten min walk away and is so much nicer a place to see bands its ridiculous!    ah well, i'll probably mosy along anyways . . .
    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
