Pretty sure i seen that Gahan recently said neither he or Gore had even thought about doing new DM stuff. So I'd imagine even if they were affordable, they wouldn't be available for the foreseeable.

Yeah at the start of the month, Dave did an interview to promote a charity gig for the late Mark Lanegan and implication seemed to be they weren't really planning anything yet but it wasn't a "It's over" tone. Besides they usually go in cycles so as Mememto Mori came out in 2023, maybe a new album in 2027/28 time is likely if they're still up for it.

DM setlists tend to be similar from tour to tour, so I don't think that says too much.

Yeah - if you swap out the new album material for things on any of their albums in the 21st century, they would be very similar. Their hardcore fans and some casuals have complaints that the older songs chosen are pretty similar for each tour they go on.

And it's a totally valid complaint; DM has way too many great tracks (both singles and album cuts) that haven't been played in forever.

Even other bands like Iron Maiden who stick to the same setlist for the whole tour manage to switch it up, with the fans in mind.

U2 also tend to mix things in and out too - it was a bold move, for instance, to follow touring Joshua Tree in full by dropping Joshua Tree songs altogether in 2018, while their sets often seem to have songs not done in years popping up.

If they do ever tour again, makes me think they might well drop Achtung Baby having just done 40 shows of it in full in Vegas.

Yes I saw them a few years ago in London with my mate who literally follows them around the world he even left Glasto one year to piss off to Spain... anyway.. My point being as said above they to the same routine,, song's,,,etc..all the same way through the tour... IMO boring BUT ID LOVE TO SEE THEM ON THE PYRAMID STAGE lol

I've been a Mode fan since the 80s. Seen them home and abroad many, many times.

I think they only work for the money these days.

They seem happy to milk fans via LiveNation, their physical releases/merch are priced sky high and their new music seems outsourced.

Really don't think Glastonbury fits into this - or ever will.

Thats all on Dave pretty much. He needs routine and consistency, so this is part of it.  Martin obviously can bust out some other stuff if he chooses for his section. But theyve had times when they had to swtich it up quite a bit.

Festival sets pretty much get rid of the new album material on any cycle and they will just play everything else so that wouldnt even be a concern if they did play Glasto. Theyre still not doing it it though. Last year was the year.

Depeche Mode setlists are more varied than 90% of the bands. They also still do 2h 15 minute shows. The Memento Mori tour (2023-2024) had 37 different songs played.

From the top 3 on the Pyramid stage in 2024, only Coldplay mixes setlists more. Maybe SZA with guest spots in the USA.

While true, most of the songs that seem to be swapped in and out are Martin Gore's piano songs in the middle of the show. There were a few more variations on the MM tour than previous ones, but they are largely pretty stagnant.

DM really doesnt mix it up unless theyre forced to do so, ie multiple nights in one venue. when they played The Hollywood Bowl in 2017 over 4 nights they had to switch it up every show and that had more variance than the rest of the tour combined. It really is all Martin choosing to do something else. There might be a couple of main set songs that get rotated in and thats likely it. Really one of the more static touring setlists for a major band on tour.  They are not King Gizzard.

    • I think a Take to the Skies set would probably be the thing that gets me to go to this. Couldn't give a f**k whatelse is on there if that happens.   Feel like Knocked Loose might be too big by that point.
