BBC radio 1 big weekend 2025

While I’m sure there will be more added, Radio 1 did post on instagram this morning the lineup with the caption “The full Big Weekend is here” with no added acts to it

Last year it was mid-May that they added the final acts (I want to say 14th) but that caption is ominous

Jack Saunders confirmed on 21st April (a week after sugababes announcement ) that there are more “big names to be added” and to “keep it locked to radio 1”.

So there will be a final announcement .

as far as I can see, nothing is confirmed. but Hard Life are playing Live at Leeds on Saturday so that should rule that day out. probably Friday as i guess they're closer to Tom Grennan/Wombats than the Sunday lineup

There's a few bands playing live at leeds and neighbourhood weekender on the same day, so wouldn't rule it out.

Seems very unclear whether we should expect one final announcement this or next week (as with last year).

Compared to last year Sat & Sun only have 6 acts on each day (excluding DJ sets from presenters) which is one less per day compared to last year.

The new music stage only has 5 acts on each day, which is four less per day compared to last year?

New music also has 7 names on Friday, I can't imagine there are 2 less names per day on Sat and Sun?

Either they are cutting down acts significantly, which I would assume means longer set times, or we still have a final announcement with some strong names to come.

Also hard life are still not on the website, which could imply they weren't supposed to be on the poster today and are part of the final announcement...

it is strange to release the complete poster with acts missing but last year they also released the full poster then added a wave of acts including London Grammar the week before.

I wouldn't rule out another big name (London Grammar size) but I also wouldn't be surprised if we don't get anything more.

I've been having a look into the travel side of it, there's a full page here https://www.visitliverpool.com/bbc-radio-1s-big-weekend-liverpool/bbc-radio-1s-big-weekend-travel-information/ (linked from the R1 website).

the option to get the local train service to St Michael's and walk the 15 mins to the entrance from there is a good one (from all the info on site, that's the side the entrance is on, the other station it mentions is the opposite side of the park and trains are less frequent to and from it). The shuttle buses from town being every 30 minutes means it could take a while doing that option unless you're literally right by Lime Street anyway.

If you're coming in for the day and getting the train into Liverpool from the Chester/Manchester/Warrington direction, it'll be easier to get off at South Parkway and change there for the short journey to St Michael's, and you'll probably save yourself time vs going into town and then getting the bus back out again.

That's our plan, though the fact that all the trains in our direction are replaced by buses at night that weekend is not ideal. We'll be leaving early Friday after Biffy, but will need to sort something for Saturday

Im staying in Manchester city centre, the train to Mossley Hill seems the best.

Especially coming back, as the train is direct coming back.

Although the 15m walk seems suspect, 25m walk on Google maps.

ah that's even better then!

Rail replacement being in place that weekend on the route to Chester, thankfully only at night, makes the way back a lot harder for me. Might have to swallow some taxi costs otherwise an hour journey becomes like 2.5-3 hours - I'm doing Big Weekend Friday and Saturday, and Neighbourhood on the Sunday so want to maximise sleep and minimise travel time!!
