What are people’s new band tips?

I’m thinking mainly Alcove / Sunrise / BBC Introducing

Mine are Cliffords (for fans of Wolf Alice maybe?) and Westside Cowboy (who won the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition)

Both decent live acts

Honeyglaze, The Pill, Hotwax are decent small up and coming bands to see. I'll also have Sprints, Hamish Hawk and Lambrini Girls at the top of my 'to see' list

Don’t suppose anyone knows of a caravan ticket going spare? Imagine not, as they’ve been sold out a while but worth asking! 😄

Try the Unofficial Latitude Festival group on Facecloth. Seems lots of people mistakenly thought they needed to buy one campervan pass per person, not per vehicle, so several offers to sell on there, but do be wary of scammers.

Thank you!

we managed to get one off the Ticketmaster resale page. Hoping that will be ok as they’re an official ticket seller 🤞🏻

But it’s not clear if the caravan/ campervan tickets are a physical hanger again this year or a digital ticket. Does anyone have one and would be able to confirm? Many thanks!

I received a hanger in the post a few weeks ago, but also an eticket just for the van along with our individual etickets (via the Latitude app when linking it to my Ticketmaster account). If you don't get a physical hanger (seems too late now) I'd hope you'd get an eticket to show.

Super helpful thank you! Have a great weekend!

A heads up and a question. First, Ticketmaster have launched a brand new app rather than an update. I had to download it today to get access to my tickets. The old app was still on my phone but displays a message that the app is inactive. Wouldn't want to do that at the gate with flaky signal. Second, I've got my admission tickets but the campervan ticket says the barcode is not yet available. Van camping opens tomorrow. Ticketmaster were less than helpful. Anyone else in the same boat?

Yeah we have the same issue with the campervan ticket. Seems some others on facebook do too.  We've just had an email back from ticketmaster saying they received our message and are looking into it. But if it's not resolved by tomorrow (when we plan to take the van) we're just going to use the ticket as we have it, and the email receipt, and hope they are understanding. In the past they've been pretty good when there's been a ticketmaster issue.

Thanks for that. Very helpful. If it's a more widespread issue I'm a little more relaxed.

It was an absolute sh*t show getting onto site - hours and hours queuing from A12, we expected to be here at 1830 and finally got out of the car at half ten. Sure it'll be fine tomorrow though as most people already on site and no more rain due. Pretty muddy in car parks and through to the campsite- sturdy walking boots or wellies recommended. Still decent amounts of space available though- just ask stewards when you're through the ticket check.

The Latitude Facebook page is an absolute binfire of people complaining about delays getting in.

We have historically loved the festival (been going since 2009) but are boycotting it because of a total debacle when we got there two years ago. A small amount of mud meant that accessing family campervans was tricky, then when we finally got in there was absolutely nowhere to park.

A security guy - who was pissed on the job when he was supposed to be directing traffic - told us that there was an overflow field but Festival Republic were too tight to open it.  We, along with about 10 other arrival groups at the same time then had a Mexican stand-off with the Head of Security and basically did a sit-in in a convoy of caravans and motorhomes, until they opened this extra field. One bloke was in a brand new £90k motorhome and they were suggesting he camped for the entire weekend in a fire lane that was the main walkway through to the festival.

This whole debacle started at 8pm, we didn't get pitched until midnight.  It's an absolute clusterf**k that they could easily avoid if they put down a small amount of metal trackway to bridge the spots where they know it gets muddy and cars get bogged down. Melvin Benn is too tight to pay it, so they have the same issues every time it rains. Do they learn from it and do something about it? No.  At Glastonbury they have metal trackway rain or shine to get the bulk of cars off the road and into parking fields without having any congestions hotspots regardless of weather.

That shambles, along with Latitude's over-zealous search policy on arena entry is why we now give it a swerve, it's no longer a relaxing event. Other festivals do it so much better. I doubt we will be back.

Back after a surpringly packed weekend - managed to cram in loads, the main highlights were Sprints, Sigrid, Elbow, Feeder and Kaiser Chiefs with Greg Davies being brilliant on the comedy too

Saying this, there didnt feel any standout shows for me and its the first time I've not seen at least one Obelisk headliner (Fatboy Slim especially seemed a big waste of the slot)

Last little tidbit but credit where its due for showing the football yesterday too, I didn't watch it myself but walked past a few times and there seemed a great atmosphere and hearing the cheers from the penalties while watching Elbow was very special too

It definitely felt busy but I didnt personally have any problems with chairs and so on but I've seen a lot of complaints about it too, I guess this is something else they'll need to consider for next year

I've just seen also theyve launched their loyalty scheme for next years edition

With there being no Glasto and their 20th hopefully they'll have some great acts for it

Only had Sunday tickets but had a brilliant time with wife and friends (their first festival)

Sunday had a great line up for us with a few clashes so I went with how I was feeling at the time, so glad I did. I was expecting to miss all of Air and WH Lung as we went see Elbow. Wasn't feeling it as much as usual at an Elbow gig, I think I've seen them too many times and they started off with a lot of the less crowd favorites, so decided to leg it before the Elbow bangers were about to start, to WH Lung who are one of my fave bands of the past 3 years. Added bonus I spent 15 minutes at Air on the way through and managed to catch their biggest hits before moving on. Loved WH lung, lovely venue (Sunrise) and crowd were all up for it. Amazing stuff. Headed back to Snow Patrol, and they totally smashed it as well

Other highlights were Doves, another of my favorite bands of the past 20 years, would love Jimi on vocals but unfortunately wont happen at the moment, but still sounded absolutely great. Also Hamish Hawk who were great and Pale Waves who havent really been on my radar but were really ace. Also loved Gareth Mallone to my surprise, really got us into the party vibe which was great after a short downpour a few minutes really - a real happy hour and totally set us up for the rest of the day. Lots oh happy faces around us

Really loved it, I cant say I really noticed the chairs problem personally. As always its always a long way to get to the arena, probably about half an hour, but i suppose there's not a lot they can do about that due to location and the main and second stage being at the south east of the site being surrounded by the A12 only a few meters to the south and east of the stage, so everything/everyone has to come in from the north and west. So distances are always going to be an issue getting to the arena. Being that far away did mean we got off the site in less than 10 minutes after getting in the car which was great. Stewarding to get in is was good, but hardly any stewarding one way out when it was dark and you need it, But we find that at every festival we go to be fair!

Prices seemed good to me as well, a pint of pilsner being £6.80 was great. Food was also great and not too pricy

Kids stuff seemed really good, kids seemed to be absolutely loving it, but not too sure about the science stuff, but we might have been in the wrong place as there didn't see to be a lot going on where we were so may have missed it!

As always a non-Glasto festival, we will definitely  return if there is a decent line-up so hopefully they can get a really great line up next year in a Glasto fallow year and it being their 20th anniversary...

A really great day, so many happy people everywhere, and our festival virgin friends also had a really brilliant time, we are all sill really buzzing from it....

A good weekend overall. Definitely much busier than previous years.

Best live acts for us were:

  • Sprints
  • Lambrini Girls
  • Billy Bragg
  • Marcus Brigstock
  • and surprisingly Fat Boy Slim, who we wasn't really bothered about since my wife and I both saw him DJ many times in Brighton clubs in the 90's, but wow what a show! Properly went off with all age groups getting down and dancing, as far as the eye could see. Probably one of the most memorable headline acts we've ever seen at Latitude.

Positives:

  • The new bogs were a big improvement.
  • Latitude responding to the people and putting up a screen for the football was appreciated.

Negatives, without getting into a bitch about chairs, trolleys and the traffic issues getting in, which are covered at length on the Facecloth Unofficial Latitude Group.

  • Talking during the bands/comedy was rife. Why does it seem only at Latitude, you get so many people during the acts, that seem to be there just to have a conversation with their mates and get a selfie for the Insta? If they're not interested in music I'd wish they'd bugger off.
  • Beer was at best fizzy piss. Only can service in some bars, but pint prices. The Taphouse offered 1664 and Poretti, which was a marginal improvement on Brooklyn.
  • Groups of teenagers in Family camping/campervans keeping people up all night with noise and security doing nothing about it. These were older teenagers, presumably they came in with parents or younger siblings and then set up camp with their mates. We're not talking 'high jinx' harmless fun either, but proper drunken lout behaviour to intimidate and disturb campers around them.
  • Sustainability credentials are deteriorating. Back to paper cups since our last visit. No more reusable plastic cups to add to the collection. Camp site lights left on 24/7.

There was a few niggles that wound me up, including the chairs (in the arenas, no issue with the ones at the edge). Had thought I wouldn't bother going again, but daughter had a blast and will likely go back, although I will wait to see the line up first to be convinced.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Didn’t think it was going to be but it ended up being one of my best Latitude’s ever and I only saw 3 acts on the main stage all weekend!

Main positives for me

The new toilets - very very good.

Lots of great new (ish) acts (Westside Cowboy, Son Mieux, Cliffords and Amble in particular)

No problem getting on site or off site (arrived and departed early)

Great food - didn’t have a duff meal

A shower every day with no queue (I went before bed)

The football !

Only criticism was the campsite where I was was very busy yet the day camp site was virtually empty - could they not decrease the day camp site size a bit and give more to general camping?

The toilets were 10/10 so credit where it's due- barely queued all weekend and they were clean and stocked. And we managed to seek out lots of fun stuff across the weekend - the Antony Szmeriek secret set was an absolute highlight, Public Service Broadcasting great as ever, Nxdia, Sprints, Lambrini Girls and Basement Jaxx were all great. Lots of fun to be had at Trailer Park etc.

But I stand by my assertion that for over £300 a ticket, that main line-up was weak as piss (and 90% middle aged white men). And the hours of queuing to get in on Thursday, with zero comms from the festival, was shambolic. Invest in some metal track FFS!

I myself was one of the 90% middle aged white men and agree with you about the weak line up for the price. I proudly did not go and see Snow Patrol, Kaiser Chiefs, or Scouting for Girls! Most of my weekend spent in the Sunrise.

I read somewhere, that the organisers took a view that the weather had been so dry that the ground would be fine and so they decided to cut £70k worth of metal track from the budget. Of course we saw how that worked out! We got into site around noon on Thursday after a 45 minute wait, but some who arrived after have claimed of waiting in excess of 5 hours, which really does need to be addressed by Latitude if that's true.

Hi, I can confirm it took us 3 hours to actually travel the last couple of miles onto the general campervan field.

Overall really enjoyed our 4th latitude, highlights were sonic firs in trailer park, feeder, clean bandit and snow patrol.

Took us about 15 minutes to get off the site onto A12 leaving at 1pm on the Monday having been directed on alternative route, apparently there had been an accident causing huge delays on the main route out.

See you next year!

It took us 9 hours to travel from London, with around 6 hours to make it the 6 miles from the level crossing as you approach from the south, arriving just before midnight. We ended up entirely missing both bands we wanted to see on Thursday and had to put up tents in the dark.

Obviously there was zero messaging through the app until about 11pm, and that was just to say the gates would remain open.

Latitude was already a tough sell with the lame main stage lineups they put out these days but the above means we won't be going back. There were lots of good things about the weekend but the Thursday pissed me off too much.

    • Maybe hopeful but get Knocked Loose on the Sunday opposite the legend. Similar to the slot Turnstile had in 2022. Would be absolutely phenomenal.
    • One of my personal favourite bands at the minute - MUNA. Was very surprised not to see them booked in 2023 with their last album but hopefully they'll be around next year. Very fun new album from these guys and, as aforementioned, another standout for me at Big Weekend.
    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
