East Site Carparking?

Hi all,

This will be my fourth Glasto and thoroughly looking forwards to it but changing plans up a bit this year! We come from Street/Glastonbury so normally end up in West carparks and end up making a big trek across to camp at Big Ground. I was wondering whether there is punter car parking available on the East side of site? And would it be worth it for us to park there, will it make our walk a little easier??

All I can really see is campervan parking - I think I'm being a bit thick!

There was definitely public car parking in the East in 2019 as my wife and I parked there and walked to meet and camp with friends in CV East. I think they recommend that people arrive to the East of the site as there is (possibly) better access so I can’t see that having changed this year.

I'm not an expert but I think it's the purple and blue car parks behind the campervan site. See here: https://cdn.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Glastonbury_Webmap_2022_PUBLIC_V4.png

I have had a look over this map so many time and that is what I'm getting from it too - I just didn't want to set myself (and my first timer boyfriend) up for disappointment with a crazy long walk again!

This is filling me with some hope!! Was access to PGB or PGC good or was the trek tricky upto the site?

To be honest my memory is affected by the fact that we walked through the car park to meet our friends in the CV field and then chilled with them until the queue had died down. I can’t recall the walk from the car parks to the gates being any longer on that side than on the West side, though I could be wrong.

Don't forget that if you are coming from Street/Glastonbury and want East parking you will need to approach from North or East rather than trying to use the A361 from Glastonbury which will def see you placed into West parking.  I'd advise going North on A39 to Wells then A371 to Shepton to be directed south onto A37 and into Blue/Purple parking on East side.

Thanks for this! Yeah I know a little back way so we pop out on the correct side of the site - just wanting to make sure we're not stitching ourselves up.

In reality I'll be so glad to be back in those fields, once the tents up and the cider is flowing the trek to camp will all be forgotten anyway!

Just to note that these ways are closed during the festival (except to residents and they have special passes) to stop people doing this or because it is being used as a car free route for other festival vehicles.  Don't want you to get caught out!

Aim for purple /blue parking ( blue route) and you either enter gate B at the top of Big Ground or Gate C - through campervan fields to hill of death and head for Big Ground from bottom of muddy lane. Either way it’s still a good 30-45 min walk to the gates from car park

We're doing that this year. Is it obvious from the car parks as to how to get into CV East?

Thanks for this! I just meant through the other villages so I pop out on the East side rather than along the A361 - thank you for the heads up though!😊

Sounds exactly like what I want! Thank you 😊 30-35mins to Big Ground is way more than manageable than trudging from PGD like I have done in the past!

Although ... hill of death is sounding pretty ominous?? Am I missing something majorly important!?

Gate C has a steep hill up to the campervan fields which is fine coming in. It can be a struggle going back up to car parks with all your stuff - it’s a fairly short hill though!

Yeah it’s was fairly straightforward. Security tried to make us join the queue which had formed for entry but quickly realised that we had no interest in queue jumping and just let us through.

    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
