Hi there!

It depends - is it your first festival?  First Glastonbury?  What's she like - a grown up 14 or a young 14?

In general though - be prepared for all weather, don't camp next to the long drops, don't overplan what you want to see, just chill and go with the flow

Enjoy

Was my first time last year and I agree with all of bexj's advice, especially the bit about not overplanning. I tried to see too many bands and something has to give. I'm definitely going to chill a bit more next year. Read a few of the Glasto advice blogs and get a decent robust trolley.

The main thing people see who aren't there is the music on 4-5 stages via the BBC, but although you can spend all day watching bands, singers, musicians etc., there are circus acts, comedians, crafts to make, skateboarding (last year at least), stalls with glam clothes, a printing press, political talks, sustainable gardens and living, massages and other treatments, dance classes, yoga, silent discos.

I've always found there to be enough room to move through crowds, except for certain routes just after bands finish, where people need to get through a narrow gap.

Maybe buy her a metal water bottle from the ticket sales, give her some sun cream and hand sanitiser, pick a groovy costume to wear and she's good to go. Get familiar with landmarks in the areas you visit, so if you do split up (eg toilet stops etc), you both meet up again. Texts can be delayed, so put a time of sending in the text in case it's late. As a fourteen year old, she'll be capable, but leave her your number on a wristband so if she loses her phone or charge, and you, she can contact you.

You are lucky that she still wants to be with you. I'm too embarrassing for mine!

Go with the flow old son. Kids are growing up fast she'll let you know wot she wants to do

Think about where you plan to camp and as carlos says make sure she knows where she is and ways to get back if you get parted.

If you camp in the kids area don't be fooled by the kids bit there's loads of teenagers so she'll soon make friends. As will you.

Glastonbury is probably one of the safer festivals so go with an open mind and you should both have fun..

    • It's a smart move because week after 5 fests already confirmed: Download (not officially), Nova Rock, Greenfield, Mystic, Sweden Rock
    • Oh I 100% agree and I'm questioning a lot.
    • That would be a day ticket for Friday going based on that. In 2027 that would suck for me lol.
    • And it's been moved forward a week, same weekend as RaR
