They are probably not allowed to do it under license terms on the Thursday and after that there is not the chance to do it all in one hit without dropping a live set.

At least the gaps between bands will be more interesting.

But only if you park yourself in front of the Pyramid all day!

What @Beerqueen says and there's the risk that songs will be cut short or interrupted by announcements, stage timings going a bit awry etc.

I would happily have lost one of the live performances and think it would have been popular enough for an early pyramid/other slot.  In honesty, I had kinda hoped that it would replace a headliner in one of the larger tents or the cinema tent but I know that's more about me being a Bowie obsessive.

Yeah it's normally all that boring shit about starving kids and global destruction. Can't be doing with watching any of that.

Yeh, and what he said!  I blame my half-asleep-brain for not considering that aspect

There's no way a video of  past performance should replace any act's live performance. I'm sure the man himself would agree.

Back in January when he'd first passed, there was talk of there being a big singalong by all the fans in the pyramid field. No mention of any screenings of past gigs or anything. Just everyone singing in his memory.

Thats what I was looking forward to.

nope it happened - between sets

All of it? I wasn't actually at the Pyramid at the time but could here 'Heros' and the crowd going wild. Didn't think they played it all though. Another thing I missed.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
