Going solo @ Glasto

Plenty of people go alone, I've done it a couple times and could end up doing so next year as well depending on other things.

There's always plenty of people in the same situation - there's dozens of threads like this every year, and over in the Chat forum there's usually a thread for Solo Travellers to arrange to camp together - though obviously this tends to get more traction as the Festival draws closer, at this stage most people are preoccupied with securing tickets.

There was a 'camp solo' last year with a loose group of about 30 ranging in age from 18 to 50 something.

Some people spent loads of time together and went round as a group while others did there own thing with the reassurance that when they came back to camp there was always someone around to have a chat to about the days events.

Nearer the time there will be a lot of people on these forums who are in the same boat, so don't worry about being on your own.

Obviously it is a massive place with thousands of people so it can be a bit daunting, but on the other hand it can also be one of the friendliest places where the vast majority will always look out for their neighbours.

Going solo has it's advantages - watch what you like, get up when you like, go to bed went you like. no feeling guilty if your mates want to see some band you hate or you drag them to see something they hate. You'll never be lonely at Glasto.

I actually think going solo would be awesome. Complete freedom to wander around and do/see whatever you like. There is always at least a slight compromise when festivaling with others. A large group of you can be a complete nightmare.

I would definitely be up for a solo Glastonbury.

Hi,
I want to go to Glasto next year but none of my friends have the money. I'm a 18 year old female from Ireland. Would it be shit going alone? Any other young wanz want to meet up?!

I realise this is a bit early but tickets go on sale soon so..

Think about being a volunteer as that way you have a bunch of people all in the same boat as you - depending who you work for you may have access to a crew bar and you will certainly have access to crew catering so lots of opportunities to chat to people - I meet new people every year and there has been occasions we will group up to go and do something - if we get split up its no big deal as we will regroup later on within the crew bar.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
