Walking from Gate A to D before gates open?

Two of my friends are coming down by Motorbike so will be parking in the compound by Gate A. The rest of us are driving to the west car parks and joining the queue at Gate D before they open. We'll have the bulk of their equipment though, so they want to come meet us at Gate D to help bring it all in. It is possible to park the bike and then walk to Gate D outside the festival?

Same question but for from gate B (NE) to gate C (SE) - what's the walk like around the perimeter & caravan fields before doors are open?

gate B queue has been horrible in the past but can be a great place to park aside from the initial queue.

Yes, it's an easy enough walk, although as a general rule, Gate A has shorter and faster queues so it may be worth considering doing it the other way around?

Cheers I'll pass on the info. There's about 20 of us going to Gate D so it's probably easier if they come to us!

You can only choose west car parks. You won't know until you park if you are going to be closer to gate a or gate d.

Obviously if you're planning on camping in the south west eg dairy or south park it makes total sense for everyone to head to D but if your aiming for woodsies or pylon or Michaels mead in the north west you're surely all better off aiming for A?

B to C or vica versa isn't as obvious as A to D, but it can still be done. Basically you need to walk along Blue Route, and ignore any stewards saying not to go that way. And you need to be very, very careful to watch out for traffic as it's the main access route for vehicles coming and going onto the eastern side of the site. There's other ways of doing it as well, but that's the one I'd use.

Starting from Gate B just head down the lane and keep going until you reach Gate C. Following Blue Route itself will head you out towards East Carparks from where you would have to head to Gate C through E19, E23, E20 and E21 then down the Hill of Death.

Gate C queues are also horrible as you have the campervans and the car park crowds to contend with. We have often walked over to B to avoid the queue (we pitch our caravan in campervan fields) at C.

Honestly don't think the walk with all your gear will save any time.

If you mean walking alongside the perimeter road.. The road exists but the stewards/security should have even more objections to you using it as it's meant to be restricted access.

I mean Cockmill Lane itself...we use the top part of it to walk down from Tangerine Fields to Gate B....to be honest I've never noticed anyone walking on further towards Gate C but if you can that would be the quickest route. I drove it only last weekend.

Again, you probably could continue on if you're determined.. but you're definitely not supposed to and you should encounter stewards+security trying to stop you at several points. The section you've used won't be a problem, the stretch from VG2 to VG3 will be more restricted especially around Ash Tree Gap which is the main junction for site traffic on the Eastern side so often gets heavy vehicles turning.

Ah yes the VG would be the issue. Cheers

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
