Black Grape

Never got to see Black Grape, had tickets to see them at Doncaster Dome and they split up the day of the show. The venue called my mums house just as we were about to set off to advise us it had been cancelled. Was particularly gutted as we had sold Blur tickets for the same night to go see Black Grape instead. It's Great When You're Straight is still played regularly in our house. Don't think the world is crying out for them to reform, but I would go along I reckon, given the chance.

I was at what I think was their last gig in Nottingham. You missed nowt believe me.

i saw them plenty in the 90s, usually at their own gigs, once supporting the Roses. they were great at the time, that album was everywhere in summer 95. i have good memories, maybe even strong enough to get me along to check them out should they appear on the line up. i don't think i'd pay to see them. is Bez and his rickety knees/standing for parliament involved?

i never got into the 2nd lp, so they were over and done with for me by 97.

Aha ok. I get those two gigs mixed up.

Easily done. Back in the mid 90s it felt like the Prodigy had set up a residency in the Point. I spent so much of my time in my teenage years down there that in a way all the gigs have merged into one massive super gig in my memory (or whats left of it, after some of those nights! ;) ).

If it's anything like the last Mondays gig I went to I'll leave it. Easily the worst thing I ever saw live.

I saw them on their 2012 tour and whilst it wasn't a showcase of musical talent, I still thought it was an enjoyable gig, and Shaun is a good frontman. I think the fact the Mondays were musically incompetent was all part of their charm.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
