Right, now as a responsible parent the answer should be obvious....

We are wanting some advice however as we're not sure we fall into that category..!

Glastonbury festival clouds mind!

Our six your old boy has developed stomach cramps over the past two days. We've had him checked out, though he's back with the doctors this morning..(bad night)..no-one (medical) can seem to commit to whether it's appendicitis or wind or anything!

What are people's experiences of on site medical care at Glasto?

Obviously we should stay home and look after him. But is it utter madness to carry on going and look after at the festival?

Those wicked gods of bad timing are seriously at play here...

In 2010 my daughter fell ill and had to go up to the medical centre. Within an hour she had seen a dentist and was given antibiotics. There is a full working hospital set up, x rays and an operating theatre. Think they have the medical side well covered!

I know that there's fully qualified doctors on site who do rota's of cover throughout the festival. Not sure if that's a help or not.

If gp says ok then go. You will be seen by qualified staff at. The festival should you need them. You know your boy best.

The medical teams are run by Festival Medical Services (google them) - volunteer (qualified, obviously) doctors and nurses who do a fantastic job by all accounts I've heard.

Thanks for all your advice! Yesterday the GP seemed to think he'd be fine at the festival. At the moment he's at the hospital having some checks. Since he's got there, he's had absolutely no stomach pain at all! Don't you love kids for making things smooth and easy!.?

Just a thought, but....

It's not perhaps that your kid doesn't want to go, and he's trying to find a way out of going by feining illness...?

He wouldn't be the first I've heard of doing that.

Well, it's not a bad thoughts but...

He spoken about nothing else since April!

We've done many of the smaller festivals before.

And he has picked out his own fancy dress for the event!

But funnily enough I did consider the same.

They're on their way back from hospital now and everything seems okay.

if the doctor was in any doubt whatsoever it could be something serious he'd say do not go to the festival I suspect.

Maybe it's anxiety! If he's been super excited about going and now it's SO close his stomach might be in knots. I'd go, great medical attention on site. You'll regret it if you don't!

Could very well be anxiety! My stomach has been playing up the last couple of days, very painful, at points I struggled to walk yesterday!!

I'm much better today, I've packed and I'm almost ready to go!

i ended up in with a sprained ankle and had no complaints, they have access to all your medical records
