If anyones interested, the BBC have published their response to a FOI request about their presence at the 2011 festival.

It's not that interesting. The only thing I noticed is that Cerys Matthews and Nick Grimshaw had to pay for their own tickets.

It costs more to broadcast 3D Because it needs more bandwidth and more expensive technology, but considering BBC already had the 3D Infrastructure and 3D broadcasting all set up it wasn't as huge a 3D investment as Russy would have you believe. It's the sort of argument the anti-establishment types latch onto because it's a tech that is very much aimed at home users with high end gear and therefore are wealthy and more likely to be part of the establishment.

If the BBC jumped into 3D exclusively for the Olympics then it'd have cost an absolute fortune. 3D at home is a faliure, but a lot of formats are, remember once upon a time the 'HD' channels would've only been available to the minority and would've cost more to broadcast than SD but because it's an advancement that has clear benefits in terms of amount of detail that can be shown on screen it caught on... but it wouldn't have if it wasn't for content providers like the BBC pushing the tech making the tech more 'in demand' and thus more affordable.

this forum never fails to contradict the spirit of glastonbury... people bickering over petty things... and this is really quite petty....

I'm not naming anyone in particular but i really hope some of the people on here aren't like this at the festival... im sure their not but just imagine if they were.... they really would need a rain check!

i really don't know why I bother going on here sometimes cos it kinda riles me up a bit... but then again it does get me excited too.

the condensed version of his reply is "I dont know what I'm talking about so am going to make some stuff up to look smart".

The same applies to the post of yours I've just quoted.

Only time the BBC coverage pissed me off was when Chris chuffing Moyles went and moaned constantly about it. Not sure if it was mixing with the great unwashed or because he would be exposed to proper music for a couple of days. Twat. Give me Lauren n Radders any day.
