Drop-off question

Usually get the coach/drive to Glastonbury but having a lift this year and being dropped off in the Bath & West Showground.

However, earlier I stumbled across a photo of a huuuuge queue with the caption "the 6 hour wait for the bus" from the Showground to the site itself. It was from 2007 I think. Is this the norm every year, or has it since become more streamlined? And is there a time to aim for in order to try and avoid such a queue?

Cheers.

We got there about midday on wed last year and there was a small queue onto the bus but it was a small wait, but after that we sailed in,couldn't believe there was no queue at the ticket end.

2009 we sat in that field for hours, everyone had gone through their drink and food, and it was a hot day.

I still till this day don't know what the problem was.

I've done it that way for the past four years (not this year, sadly) and it's always been fine APART from 2009. We did exactly as milly16 says and pretty sure I got mild sunstroke in the process, which did make it hard to get the energy levels up from that point on. I think there was some accident or something nearby?

Anyway, apart from that it's always been great and would be my preferred method. Last year we were at the showground about 6.30-7am and pitched by 9am, gin in hand :)

According to the site office, the shuttles from the Showground run 24 hours a day from Tuesday right through to the Monday. There should never be a point they're not running. I plan to be there at around 5am ish and have been assured by the office that there'll be shuttles operating at the time, and the drive to the site is significantly shorter than that from Castle Cary train station. After a lot of indecision, I'm happy that it's the best way to go.

2013

Arrived to the show ground 6.30am ..... Expected buses to arrive pretty quick as they should've been every 15 mins

Boarded bus about 7.30am which was the second one that came

We could see buses a few hundred meters away in the middle if a field, but maybe there were just one or two doing the circuit as drivers arrived

Buses were not every 15 mins

Journey to Gate A less than 20 mins

Complete debacle on the way back

arrived at Gate A at 1pm

No-one knew where the shuttle was, many people told to get into the wrong queue then found the right queue and waited again

Boarded bus around 3pm after pushing in the queue
