Tent recommendations

Hi all, Need to buy a new tent for this years festival as our trusty old one is now sadly deceased and wondering if anyone has any recommendations? Looking for a family type tent, with good standing height. Our last tent was a tunnel/done type one with one big bedroom so either something like this or perhaps two bedrooms, but not keen on the ones where there's a bedroom either side of the living area as after a few friends having bits nicked from their tents as they slept at the festival over the years, don't fancy our 1 year old being too far from us. Ideally looking at around £100 which I realise might be quite a big ask...but I guess this is flexible! Any help or advice much appreciated, thanks x

cant go wrong with looking at Go Outdoors, great large tents at great prices, plus if there is one nearby then you can go along and see them "erect" :spiteful:

I bought the predecessor of this last year (http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/hi-gear-gobi-elite-4-tent-p286266) cracking tent, and if you keep an eye out, they often run promotions - i picked this up for £120

I had my eye on what one gooutdoors actually but then procrastinated and the offer ended...but it seems they randomly have offers so will just need to keep an eye out. I hadn't heard of some of the makes on there but I'm definitely not an expert so glad to hear that yours is a good tent!

We've tried various different tents at Glasto and other festivals and now have a Quechua Base Seconds 4.1. Quechua no longer make the tent, so it would have to be a case of ebaying or pre-loved/gumtree, but this in our opinion makes for a fab festival tent. It pitches in minutes as it's pop up, the living area is large enough, as is the bedroom. There is currently one on ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quechua-Tent-4-1-Base-POP-UP-4-man-for-festivals-camping-hiking-fishing-/201085483503?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_HikingCamping_Tents_JN&hash=item2ed1a0f9ef

Failing that, I'd keep a look-out for a decent second hand well-made tent such as these:

Gelert Ottawa 4

Vango Venture 500

Literally type 4 man or 5 man tent into ebay, set the perameters to a pick-up distance not too far from where you live and see what comes up in the search. Then use ukcampsite tent reviews section to review whether the ones you like the look of are any good.

Happy tent shopping!

We've got a Outwell Virginia 5 and it's great

Unfortunately I think they've been discontinued but you maybe able to pick one up 2nd hand- we've used it for 2 festivals and various camping trips- we're a family of 4. I'm 6' 3" and can stand up in the living room bit easily

EDIT: just found someone flogging one on eBay- collection from Dudley West Mids though

Ah thanks for all the recommendations guys...ended up going for the vango Icarus 500 from gooutdoors. Was a little but over our planned budget but I went into a store on Tuesday and was admiring it and one of the staff came and whispered that it was going on 7 day promotion at £70 off the following day,so ordered it the next day...felt it was meant to be!!

The Icarus 500 is very similar to the Outwell Virginia 5. We were debating between the two but went for the Outwell as got good deal and it had excellent reviews

    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
    • 6music just shared a video of all of Fontaines DC singing along to the Cure last night. It'll be them. Booooo    Olivia might get up for I Love You though...
    • Proper loser behaviour wearing a tee like that. Me and my mate play a game every year called ‘Boomer Tees’ and there’s some gems every time.
